Arthur Miller’s tragic tale of a working man’s professional and emotional decline, explores the concept of a failed American Dream, and continues to entertain audiences worldwide in both film and theatre. In our post-modern political and social fields of conflict and change, it remains a significant text. I have taught this play many times over the last 20 years. I have used this specific resource (revised in 2021) to lead my teaching in class, as a distance learning material (Google Meet/SKYPE lessons), as a homework assignment and even as a tool of revision – all have worked well for the students. This dynamically illustrated PowerPoint lesson (18 slides) provides approximately 2 hours teaching time and explores the characterisation of Willy Loman. This resource includes: a starter activity, characterisation traits and behaviour questions, textual analysis questions, an extension task, a homework assignment and a plenary. This is a complete resource with no further work required from the teacher. Enjoy!
