2 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour each discussing activities you do / are going to do with your friends. Lesson 1: revision of Yr7 activities in the present tense + practice of time markers. Lesson 2: practice of near future with the same activities.

Aimed at Yr10 Higher set revising geographical features and the weather. 3 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour each. Lesson 1: Types of house / geographical features + activites linked with it with “on peut” Lesson 2: Revision of conjugation for ER verbs in the present tense. Weather. Lesson 3: Revision of “on peut” + full conjugation. Leading up to the production of a paragraph and a speaking activity answering questions.

Aimed at Yr10s Higher set. 4 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour covering information to have a conversation in a visitor information center. Lesson 1: basic new vocabulary (open/close…) and writing out sentences using je voudrais/ j’aimerais etc… Lesson 2: Higher version of I would like “je ne veux pas manquer/ je tiens à visiter…” and text (listening first) study to practice the new vocabulary. Lesson 3: Asking questions (grammar point) and listening practice of conversations. Lesson 4: Speaking practice based on ads (basis for this lesson found on TES). Some of the slides have been found on TES from other users and have been adapted to this lesson.

4 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour each. Lesson 1: revision of Passé composé of ER verbs (and mix with present tense) for the first person singular (je line). Lesson 2: Revision of Avoir auxiliary to extend the conjugation + game to revise irregulars (j’ai lu / vu / cru, etc…). Lesson 3: Study of a text known to the students (from Une sortie) to find the time markers and verbs. Lesson 4: Writing task in the past tense (can be used in lessons later to re write in 3 tenses) with extension on how to improve the sentences (sequencers, intensifiers, time markers,…)

Lesson talking about what you can do in your region. Aimed at Yr10s Foundation/bottom set. 4 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour each. Lesson 1: Geographical features and text study of people talking about their region + guided writing task. Lesson 2: Suprelatives study and practice. Lesson 3: Superlatives further practice with guided writing. Lesson 4: Activities leading to writing a paragraph.

Hedge of Intensifiers, each intensifier goes on a hedge of a different size. You can modify the hedges to add in your own intensifiers (other words or other language!) Student use connectives to make the paragraph that they have built pretty ! Check out the “Wall of connectives”: student use connectives to “build” their paragraph. Both resources are designed to be displayed together.

A display to support your explicit teaching of French tenses (endings, how to form it, common irregular verbs). Colour coded and with time markers. I printed mine on A3 paper, laminated and cut the extra space to make it like a “strip” for each tense on my wall (borders matching on the side). Aimed at Yr11 Foundation sets covering jobs and sectors and aiming to extend the number of details mentioned about why we like / dislike a job we would(n’t) like to do (where we would work, who with, etc…) The activities are differentiated. 2 lessons of 1 hour each (lesson 1 has the potential to be 2 lessons). Lesson 1: Pratice of new vocab through the game “Quiz Quiz Trade” then leads to sentence writing with the same structure repeated to support memorisation "Je voudrais être prof et je travaillerais dans une école avec des enfants. Listening, Speaking and writing around a survey with high sentence starters (ce qui t’intéresserait le plus… L’orientation qui t’attire le plus, ce serait un métier/poste dans…). The end writing is in the 3rd person singular and aim to be a practice run to answer the question “Qu’est-ce que tes parents font comme travail?” Lesson 2: Starter consists of 3 bullet points from past paper writing. Students have to translate the bullet point and choose the most appropriate response for each of them (revision of theme 2). 1st activity is a listening from a past paper (Foundation for now) to review recently seen vocab, recaping listening strategies. Sectors are introduced and drilled in through several games of Morpion (tic tac toe / noughts and crosses). Listening activity to practice. Leads to the practice writing (modelled by the teacher) of a bullet point from a past paper (Higher 20 mark from 2021). Lesson aimed at Yr9 students covering vocabulary related to technologies and what you can do online. Includes videos from French ads used to study vocab, then students have to write their own ad and do a voiceover over a French ad. Lesson 1: Introduction and practice of activites people do on the Internet. Lesson 2: Introduction and practice of technologies (baladeur MP3, portable,…) and vocabulary linked to them (avoir du réseau). Study of the ad “une tablette déconnectée”. Leads to student writing their own ad as a voice over another French ad for a phone. Differentiation possibility (included): use the second ad to study the vocab (rather than the first ad). Lesson 3 (two possibilities - both included): Both include reading as a writing model, and leads to a writing task. One lesson focuses on the structure “il est + adj + de + inf” The second lesson focuses on a writing frame used across all topics to answer writing questions.

Lesson covering the vocabulary of tasks done during Work Experience, and opinion using “c’était”, as well as the imperfect tense and its difference in use with the perfect tense (passé composé). Aimed at a higher set of Yr11s. Two-hour lesson (with the potential of being a 3 hour lesson). Lesson 1 (can be split in two): l’imparfait - language presentation independent practice to drill the method (scaffolded with the students being asked to write down the steps to find the stem, then write the verb in the first person singular in the imperfect tense). Whole class practice with MWB (scaffolding removed) Language presentation - imparfait vs passé composé Independent practice - study of scenarios in English and decide whether you would use imperfect or passé composé to talk about them in French. Writing - list of verb, roll a die to choose one, roll a die to choose a scenario (sentence starters given) and student have to make a sentence joining the two. Lesson 2: Starter: picture description Reading: match up the places of work experience with the activities (sentences mixing imperfect tense and perfect tense). Listening: fill in a table with places of work experience, tasks + opinion (added). Writing: write your own report of your work experience (using imperfect + perfect tense).

Lesson aimed to a class of Yr9s revising the perfect tense / passé composé. A two-hour lesson. Lesson 1: Revision of how to do the passé composé with avoir (with all 3 groups). Lesson 2: Study and production of the passé composé in context, adding opinions. Leading to a writing.

Risk assessment written to take a group of 40 Yr11s students, via coach (via the Shuttle) on a day trip to France to visit a Christmas market (Lille). Detailed with knowledge of country’s own plans for safety (SAMU and other local emergency numbers, plan Vigipirate,…) Ideal for any day trip abroad, particularly suited for France. This assessment has been written for an activity taking place on school site, in the Food Tech kitchen, involving Year 7s making Macarons in a lesson in French, led by a professional chef. Ideal for any cooking workshop including a visitor. Lesson aimed at a higher set of Yr11s and covering the vocabulary needed to book a hotel room (included showers, single/double bed, etc…) and covering the grammar point of nous vs on (useful for the 28 mark formal essay). A four-hour lesson. Lesson 1: Covering vocabulary of hotel rooms and introducing sentences with “nous” and “on”, as well as “avec” and “sans”. Lesson 2: Practicing the verb loger in several tenses and practicing the vocab seen in Lesson 1 with a reading talking about several hotels. Adding other vocab such as “petit-déjeuner inclus” “nos chambres modernes vous attendent” (seen as chunks). Lesson 3: Focus on “on” vs “nous” in the present tense (verb endings) Lesson 4: Study of a listening (conversation to book a room) followed by a speaking based on the questions of the listening. Students are given a card with information in English about the room they want to book and are asked to play out the role play.

Lesson covering the vocabulary of tasks done during Work Experience (WEX), and opinion using “c’était”, as well as a recap of perfect tense (passé composé). Aimed at a lower set of Yr11s. Two-hour lesson Lesson 1 : Language presentation of WEX tasks in the passé composé with a match up exercise (dual coded to help with memory.) Listening and translation: sentences on the board, I say the translated version (or part of it) and they have to tell me (on their mwb) with sentence it is. Listening: fill in a table in English (opinion added) with the required details. Translation: translate into French (3 sentences with increasing difficulty). Lesson 2: Starter: picture description Language presentation: recap of passé composé + common irregulars + je suis allé(e) Independent practice with first person singular Whole class AfL with MWB Writing: students are asked to write their own report using the passé composé, giving justified opinions and using time markers.

Lesson aimed at a higher set of Yr11s and covering the vocabulary of transports, leading to a role play on booking your own train ticket and giving your opinion on which means of transport you would rather travel in, using comparatives. A four-hour lesson. Lesson 1: Starts with chunks of sentences to do with transports (plane, car, train) such as “quai”, “guichet”, “aéroport” then introduces the discussion of a train ticket booking through a listening. Lesson 2: Study of questions of a ticket booking, model through a listening. Leads to a role play where each student has a different train ticket that they want to buy with different information on them (destination, time, platform number, single / return, etc…). Lesson 3: Study of 12 sentences with different tenses and the verb “voyager”. Recap of the comparative structure. Lesson 4: Recap of comparative and adding justifications as to why one transport has their preference over another. Leads to a guided writing.

I am putting here Activities that I have found made by La Poste. It includes a French teacher pack to guide teacher towards writing a letter and teaching culture. It also has a PowerPoint with the links towards drawing activities to be sent to children in hospitals, recipes in French, a Christmas tale, sleep countdown, folding “une cocotte” with sentences about Chritsmas history and traditions that students can fold and use to present them to other people.
