Articulate - Key Word Game - Perfect for most subjects

This is a game that I use in Business Studies, but can be used in a whole range of subjects that require students to explain key words. I have included my Business Studies example. Languages for instance could get students to explain the key word in a different language. I have used this game a lot and often use it for observations as most students can really engage in the game. It should be fast paced. I normally get the cards printed on coloured paper, each colour is a different unit. Included; How to play Rules Cards If you have any questions then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Web design ICT Lesson 2: Planning a website

I have used this for Year 9's to refresh the e-safety topic as we often discuss around the topic. Based on the previous lesson, students are to write a short synopsis of how they will carry out their website creation making them consider the steps they need to take and to provide them with a list of tasks that they need to complete. Students can then start to use the Web design software, we use WebPlus but anything similar would be fine to use. I normally allow them to choose a topic, but the option of making it e-safety based is in there.

I have used this for Year 9's to refresh the e-safety topic as we often discuss around the topic. Students are required to consider the aesthetics of a website they enjoy visiting and a website that they may find difficult to use. Students then need to analyse both websites in order to prepare to make their own website. Students then create a mind map for their website, I normally give them a free choice as they find this more engaging. Students will then be ready to move on to lesson 2.

E-safety ICT Lesson 2: Planning and creating a blog

I have used this for Year 8's to refresh the e-safety topic. Students are to research blogs based on topics that they are interested in e.g. sports, beauty, pets etc. From here students are to analyse these blogs encouraging them to look more closely. Using the material from last lesson (please see previous resource). Students are required to complete the analysis and peer assessment, they then need to plan their blog using either paper or the computer. These plans should then be peer assessed using the previous sheet. Students will then be ready to move on to lesson 3.

Students are to research blogs based on topics that they are interested in e.g. sports, beauty, pets etc. From here students are to analyse these blogs encouraging them to look more closely. 1. The blog web address is: 2. The purpose of this blog is: 3. A description of the layout is (where things are): 4. A description of the design is (what does it look like?): 5. Five good things that I like about it are (and why!): 6. Five bad things about it are (and why!): 7. It could be improved by (more than one please): Students then peer assess their analysis ready to move on to lesson 2.

I have used this as an introductory Year 7 e-safety lesson, students have a word search to help identify key words used throughout the topic. During the next two lessons I would expect this to last over an hour as students will need to be given folders, target grade stickers and a general introduction into the how to use the computer etc. This also gives the teacher time to circulate around the room and get to know the class.

Edexcel GCSE ICT: Unit 4 Online Goods and Services - Online Shopping

(0)
A very basic resource made by a non specialist ICT teacher, taken mostly from the Edexcel GCSE Revision Book. Made for a class to discuss and share online shopping experiences. Previous homework was for students to list and describe both positive and negative online shopping experiences. Students to then create revision material to be reviewed by other students. It is very basic, but as a teacher without any resources it might help someone else as a building block.

Edexcel GCSE ICT, unit 2 connectivity general. I am not an ICT teacher, but I am teaching ICT. I have primarily used the Edexcel Revision Guide which has been great, but I needed a a power point to teach from, so this is what I have made. It's not very detailed, but it's a starting point for teachers in the same position as me.

Stop the Bus/Scattegories

A game that can be used as a plenary or to identify key terms for a lesson. I often use 'fun' categories, followed by a couple more serious ones. I have included a tutorial of how to play and a blank sheet to print out. Students are required to think of words for each category and as soon as they have filled in all the categories in a horizontal line they need to shout 'stop the bus' everyone needs to put their pens down and they can score points by putting original words in. Teacher or student to pick the letter that the whole class use. Please see tutorial for more detail. Only trouble I have had is trying to score the class as a whole when they play individually. I often just use the person who has said stop the bus first.
