Rates of Reaction and Energy Changes: 5 GCSE Chemistry Lessons. Edexcel 9-1 Topics CC14 CC15 SC18 SC19

7 Resources
This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topics 14 “Rates of Reaction” (topic 18 for Separate Science) and 15 “Energy Changes in Reactions” (topic 19 for Separate Science) from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science course. The bundle includes five full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. I am currently working on a PowerPoint for the Core Practical, though equipment lists for this are provided in the overview document and all background learning is covered in the lesson on “Rates of Reaction Graphs”. Having delivered this to three classes already, my suggested teaching order is: Endo/Exothermic Reactions (practical), Explaining Energy Changes and Bond Energies, Collision Theory & Factors Affecting Reaction Rate, Reaction Rate Graphs, Core Practical, Catalysts. I have many other GCSE lessons and bundles available so please check out my shop, OnSpecScience.
Catalysts and Activation Energy GCSE lesson (SC18c CC14c)

Catalysts and Activation Energy GCSE lesson (SC18c CC14c)

(1)
This PowerPoint (with suggested practical tasks) will allow you to teach a range of abilities about catalysts and catalytic converters, including the new material on activation energy and enzymes. The resource meets all required specification points for the Edexcel 9-1 GCSE Chemistry course. It is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers.
Rate of Reaction Graphs GCSE Lesson (SC18a CC14a) Core Practical Prep

Rate of Reaction Graphs GCSE Lesson (SC18a CC14a) Core Practical Prep

(2)
This PowerPoint (with suggested practical demonstrations) will allow you to teach a range of abilities about Rates of Reaction and how to plot them graphically. Contrary to the suggested teaching order, this lesson is best delivered after teaching about collision theory and factors affecting reaction rate. The lesson consolidates factors affecting reaction rate, demonstrates the techniques used in the subsequent core practical, and provides much needed practice at drawing, interpreting and annotating reaction rate curves. The resource meets all required specification points for the Edexcel 9-1 GCSE Chemistry course. It is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers.
Factors Affecting Reaction Rate GCSE Lesson (SC18b CC14b) Collision Theory

Factors Affecting Reaction Rate GCSE Lesson (SC18b CC14b) Collision Theory

(2)
This PowerPoint (with independent learning activity) will allow you to teach a range of abilities about collision theory, including the new material on activation energy, and how temperature, pressure, surface area and concentration affect rates of reaction. The resource meets all required specification points for the Edexcel 9-1 GCSE Chemistry course. It is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. You will also need the FREE resource “SC18b Collision theory worksheet” from my TES shop.
Exothermic & Endothermic reactions + Bond Energy GCSE Lesson (SC19b CC15b)
