Each conversion is illustrated through worked examples and tips on how to convert with three practice questions that students can work on independently.
In my lessons, I will have a folder with the solutions in so that students can self-mark once they have completed the activity.
To follow shortly: Let’s Do It Activities for Sorting & Searching Algorithms and Logic Gates.

GCSE Computer Science/BTEC ICT/BTEC DTT
Audio recordings to use at the start of Computing lessons as students are logging on.
Linked directly to GCSE Computer Science:
Types of Network
Client-Server and Peer-to-Peer
LAN Hardware
IP and MAC addressing

Repeat this process and learn the theory in little bitesize chunks
Next lesson: DTT - Test - How much do the students remember - where are they still struggling (solution is on the Golden nuggets given out as revision!).
A good way to pinpoint misconceptions and areas that need final attention before the exam/mock exam.
Next installment - currently making - will arrive during December.

This resource includes the student workbook and the teacher solution showing workings, using my SPI model: Scaffold, Prompt, Independent.
* Challenge 1 - 6 Scaffold
* Challenge 7 - 8 Prompts
* Challenge 9 - 10 Independent
Each challenge comprises of:
1. Binary to denary
2. Binary to hexadecimal
3. Denary to binary
4. Hexadecimal to binary
5. Hexadecimal to denary
6. Denary to hexadecimal
7. Binary addition.
Students will use this workbook as their 'starter activity' in the Autumn term, as their computers are loading - using 'waiting time' productively to get them converting numbers.
Once the teaching element of Component 3 has been completed, students need to further develop their understanding of how to use the key terms in the syllabus in the context of the scenarios given in questions.
Included in this bundle are resources to help with discussion to formulate ideas, and then a written task to put these ideas down on paper.
This approach enables students to think before they write, and will potentially train them to do this better in the exam.
