French : Les voyages - CATEGORIES What is this resource? Lots of sentences or questions to categorise into four columns or sections. The categories are given in French. Encourages independent learning! (clever clogs children will notice the upside down help at the bottom of the worksheet…). Good for cover work. To extend, learners could translate all of the sentences into English or make dialogues Not printed this for a while, so let me know if it needs altering at all if it doesn’t come out right!

Simple wordsearch starter or filler. Extend by not having seen the vocab’ before and look up in dictionary or glossary before completing. More able pupils could put the vocab’ into sentences.

The language used assumes prior knowledge of daily routine verbs and activities. Suggested extension: write out the routine of a family member so that learners can use third person verbs

Good for cover or settling work! Weather phrases to combine with clothes you'd wear or activities you do (so assumes some prior knowledge or a vocab' sheet...). Present tense but last writing task is open for more able. Write on double-sided (or reduced) sheet or write in exercise book.

Survey grid to complete about hobbies in French. Extension included. Visually appealing. Learners circulate the classroom and ask as many people as possible about sports. Could extend with graphs/writing up results/third person writing and so on.

Bi-lingual vocab' sheet to help develop language for the "Mon quartier" topic.

**Time saving codes for marking ** French, Spanish, Italian… Stick the A4 sheet into learners’ exercise books at the front or back. As you are marking, any common corrections and so on that they should complete have codes. You just need to write the code on the work. Learners then write out the relevant target(s) on their marked work - and complete them, of course… The language is described as the “Target Language” so that the sheet is appropriate for many languages.

A log for pupils to note when they use TL (French) in the classroom. They monitor and tell you when they've achieved a reward which you can tailor to your own school's rewards system.
