A set of 5 worksheets, each with 20 mixed calculations. Topics covered: rounding to a given digit, ordering decimals, HCF, LCM, prime factors, roots (square and cube). Separate answer sheets provided.
This worksheet provides an explanation and examples of the use of ‘who, whom, whose’. The exercise which follows challenges pupils to combine simple sentences to make complex sentences linked by a relative pronoun. Answers are supplied, including notes about why some sentences are punctuated differently from others. The objectives are taken from the Y5/6 programme of study, but the worksheet would also be a useful and challenging resource for older students.

A set of A5 booklets each containing 13 exercises for practising tables from 2-12. Devised for homework, but could equally be used as a short starter activity in maths lessons. Books can be issued to pupils according to their existing knowledge of tables, working from the easier ones (10, 5, 2, 11) through to the more difficult ones (3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12). Stickers/team points can be awarded for completing a book and moving up to the next level. Good for getting parents involved!
The booklets need to be printed double-sided onto A4 paper (4 sheets needed) . Pupils could be given the task of assembling them as booklets.
Starter activities include partner work for practising tables and a whole class tables activity using loop cards (link to loop card generator supplied). The presentation includes, on slide 4, a clear video demonstration on how to use tables to factorise numbers. It ends with an exhortation to pupils to learn their tables in order to be able to factorise! The independent work, linked to the presentation, consists of a worksheet with 3 exercises: 2 on tables, and one where pupils practise factorising numbers.
A starter activity for place value lessons. Pupils have to determine the value of underlined digits in increasingly large numbers.
Open the zip folder and click on the file marked start. You need to allow Active X content if asked.
Note - as this is a flash based resource, it may not work with Apple products.
Lesson plan and complete resources for Y5 lesson. Mental starter followed by PowerPoint presentation on ordering numbers of increasing length and difficulty. During the presentation, pupils work in pairs or small groups to practise the skills required for the independent work. Two levels of worksheets are supplied - 5 in each folder.
A one hour lesson on reading, writing and comparing numbers using inequality signs. Resource includes a lesson plan, PowerPoint for delivering the lesson input, and five differentiated folders each containing 5 worksheets with answers.
Two sets of five worksheets. The easier set has just the Celsius scale displayed on the thermometer. The more difficult shows both Celsius and Fahrenheit. In both sets, pupils have to read temperatures in Celsius only. Useful real-world application of negative numbers.
Three sets of worksheets. The first is intended as an introduction: pupils have to round whole numbers: first of all to tens, then hundreds and thousands. The other two sets become progressively more difficult and involve decimals. Answers are supplied on separate sheets.
