You can use this resource to present in an assembly (10-15 mins) or as a standalone lesson as I have included worksheets. It is editable to suit learning abilities of your pupils. Remember to ‘Save As’, give a new name to the Presentation before editing. You can change the date of Mother’s Day as it changes each year. Content: • Assembly/Lesson Notes • 19 Slides – PowerPoint Presentation • Mother’s Day card to colour in and add additional designs • Worksheet 1 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what their mums do for them. • Worksheet 2 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what they will do on Mother’s Day to make it special • Worksheet 3 – Pupils complete a cloze activity. Meaning of Mother’s Day Traditional Simnel Cake now linked to Easter History of Mother’s Day and the ‘Mother’ Church Children think about how they can make their mums feel special on the day When USA and Mexico celebrate their Mother’s Day Geography link – You could ask pupils to locate USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Mexico on the map as they are all on different continents. Simple Ready-made card This is for some pupils who are reluctant to design a card. See preview pane. Print off the sheet onto card or good quality paper. Pupils can decorate and colour in and add their name at the bottom. Then fold along the line to look like a card. Second sheet with the heart should be printed on normal paper. Tell pupils to decorate the sheet with the large heart on and then cut out to stick onto the front of the card. 3 Optional Worksheets to use after assembly or lesson. Worksheet 1 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what their mums or foster mum or gran do for them. Worksheet 2 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what they will do to make Mother’s Day special. For example, he/she could draw themselves giving mum a tray with breakfast in bed and then write a sentence correctly punctuated. Additional Worksheet 3 – This worksheet is in two parts. There is a gap-filling activity with the words in the word bank. The second part is finding which day of the week is missing and then writing it. This product relates to color activities. Ideal to use in group settings - each table has a dedicated activity and the children can move round once they have had a go or completed an activity. <strong>Content:</strong> Teachers Notes on activities -Whole page color words surrounded by bubbles -Whole page color words for children to trace over the dashes Color word cards - upper case letters Color word cards - lower case letters Selection of color pictures with labels Black and white pictures for children to color in Clipart buttons in a variety of colors Colors : red, brown, blue, orange, black, green, gray, yellow, white, purple and pink. <strong>• Activity 1</strong> – You can direct the children to use any color equipment to fill in the color words and the bubbles – paint, crayons, felt tips, pencils. <strong>• Activity 2</strong> – Children join up the dashes to complete the letters and then color in the word. They can draw things that are usually that color. <strong>• Activity 3</strong> – Use IT Paint Palette on computer to create a colorful picture or simply a rainbow. This resource contains a set of 26 uppercase letters containing 2D shapes. Alphabet mats for each letter with pictures beginning with the letter sound. If you are teaching or have taught uppercase letters and 2D shapes, here are some extra resources for your pupils to colour in and/or cut out and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper. The letters are on whole pages in two sizes - A4 and 8.5 x 11". Suggested Uses: Children colour in the shapes and the background and then they can draw things beginning with that letter. Children colour in the shapes only and then cut around the letter and stick into their workbook. You could cut out the letter and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper with handwriting guidelines for children to practise writing the letter and then colour in. Extension: after colouring in the letter, children can list the shapes they see and the more able can put them into ABC order. Laminate the upper case alphabet mats for children to use playdough to model the letters. 2D Shapes: square, circle, triangle, oval, rectangle, diamond, star, heart, crescent, pentagon and trapezium or trapezoid. This product contains worksheets relating to pairs of matching onset and rime CVC words. A lovely addition to your phonics lesson to support phonic work. It consists of 2 sets of 54 worksheets together with picture and word cards in color and black and white. Teacher’s Notes included for suggested activities. Students look at the picture and say what it is. Then they color in the letters that make that word. When they have colored in the letter, the children rearrange them to spell the word and write it on the handwriting guide line. If some students get stuck, I have included word cards with the same pictures which you can put in the middle of the table for the students to find that matching picture that is also on the worksheet. These are St Patrick’s Day phonics worksheets relating to beginning consonant blends. These worksheets are ideal for reviewing work on blends and for writing simple sentences using beginning blends. Content: Consonant blend worksheets Writing simple sentences Fun colour by Code Activity – great for early finishers Consonant blends worksheets: There are 7 consonant blends worksheets containing 9 blends pictures on each sheet with incomplete words. Students select the correct missing blends from the grid using the picture clues. There are three different activities for students to review letter sounds and to decode and read CVC words and practise reading sight words in sentences. Content: Worksheets: Short A to E: Spring Word and Picture Match Worksheets A to E: Read Simple Sentences and Writing Worksheets 1 - 3: Missing Letters in CVC Words Spring Word and Picture Match (with Answers) In this activity, students draw lines to match up the CVC pictures on the flowerpots to the words on the flowerheads. Read Simple Sentences and Writing Each worksheet contains sight words which the students should read and then read the simple sentences filling in the CVC words in the sound boxes that matches the pictures. It outlines where the adverb is usually positioned in a sentence when using the verb ‘to be’, main verb and auxiliary verbs. This resource is on the topic of Saint George and The Dragon legend. A great introduction to myths and legends. Aimed at: KS1/2 The legend of St. George the dragon-slayer is on PowerPoint. The Presentation includes whole class activities and comprehension questions. Children are encouraged to participate in discussion about the story and check their understanding. The second PowerPoint Presentation explains what mythical stories are and why they were told (6 Slides). The third PowerPoint Presentation is on different dragons for whole class activity and to prepare children for their worksheet activity. The resource also contains:- Flexible detailed lesson plans covering 3 lessons (includes learning objectives and plenaries). Each PowerPoint slide is referred to in the lesson plans. Lesson 1: Children are presented with the legend of St. George and then there are 7 comprehension questions. The Myths Presentation is also referred to set the story in context. Differentiated worksheets - With support - LA children read, cut/paste sentences to match pictures; MA/HA write sentences for each picture using time words. Extension: Complete George’s Day Factsheet (colour in/3 questions). Lesson 2: The lesson focus is adjectives. Children review describing words using the Dragons Presentation. Build a word bank of adjectives; model sentence for describing dragon on Slide 12). Differentiated Activity 1 - LA children label the dragon and then write simple sentences after colouring it in. MA/LA - Draw/colour in their dragon and write sentences describing it. Early finishers: Print off one or two dragon slides for children to describe. Lesson 3: Retelling myth in own words. Quick review of the story. Children draft their story and also use their description of their dragon in the previous lesson to add into the story. There is a worksheet to write up the final draft.

Washing line activity - questions marks are placed where there should be either a capital letter or a lower case letter. Children are given a selection of laminated letters and have to decide whether the letter they are holding should go where the question mark is. Reinforcement of what the children have learnt: There is a selection of alphabet gap-filling strips from easy to challenging. Cut out the gap-filling alphabet strips and stick into workbooks; and/or Laminate for continuous use There are 26 upper and lower letters for the children to cut out each time you focus on a letter.
