Includes the rules of speaking with others, rules of listening and a ready made set of discussion guidelines that can be adapted to suit your own classes. Used to set the ground rules for discussion assemblies and as a reminder at intervals (if required). Has been used successfully by many at a school for some years now. PLEASE NOTE: The file is in flipchart form, ideally for ActiveInspire, but can be used in other programs with some adaptations.

2 week Performance Poetry planning perfect for year 3/4. Includes build up to understanding and performing poetry and then moving onto writing their own poem using a frame based on a popular poem style. My year group responded very well to this planning and thoroughly enjoyed producing their own poems and performing them to one another. They also loved playing critics and had fun evaluating their own performances as well as those of others. Planning is in the form of a flipchart and includes other necessary resources. Marking ladders for work to be completed are included as well as a modelled text which can be used to model to the children how their poems might sound.
