Scattergraphs Maths Mastery Assessment Senteo SMART Response Quiz 11 Questions Review Plenary

Here are 11 questions on a SMART Notebook (also presented as a PDF if you don't have SMART) At the end of the topic one of my classes wrote questions to show what they understood about Scatter graphs. The SMART Notebook is the result of this. Also included is a worksheet to match the questions and a set of answers. My suggestions are: Give the worksheet out. Allow them some time to answer. Then give them the Senteo Handsets and get them to close their books. Answer the quiz with the handsets as individuals. Then reset the quiz and allow them to complete it again - either in table groups of four or with their books to help them. Finally get them to write explanations to each question in their book to prove/reinforce their understanding. Algebra Simplifying Expressions Match Yes No Game

Short PowerPoint which challenges misconceptions when matching & simplifying algebraic expressions. Pupils can write their answers (and then show the correction) on individual pupil whiteboards - either on own, in pairs or in tables of four. Pupils can use red, green, yellow (for don't know) cards to show their answer. For extra fun you can have them point "Usain Bolt Style" to the left or right of the room for their answer. For complete chaos you can have them run to the left of the right of the classroom for yes or no. The important thing is to get pupils to explain their answers to help everyone's understanding. You can quite easily and quickly add many more questions by simply duplicating a yes or no slide and adding in your changes. I would usually back this exercise up with a worksheet or textbook exercise which they can do independently afterwards. You can extend this by getting the pupils to make up their own slides (on their whiteboards) to test other pupils.

I made these to help me save time when marking the books- If I wrote it several times one day I went home and made a sticker for it.. You need to buy the appropriate sized stickers. I got mine from eBay. The one I use the most is "Extra Challenge" which saves you having to write "Here is an extra challenge for you to do". Hope they help you too!

Who Am I Number Properties Prime Factor Multiple Quiz Questions Plenary Starter Homework

There are eight really good questions written by my students from their homework. I've chosen the best eight and graded them using "SkiRoute" Difficulty (See my other resources). The questions are laid out for 2x4 labels. Give a sheet of 8 questions to each table and they can choose which of the eight they wish to answer (self differentiation). Alternatively use the PowerPoint and display them - several versions on your preferred preference for displaying the answers. The Original Homework task sheet is also included. Enjoy. Algebra Simplification of Expressions Starter Worksheet WITH ANSWERS :) 35 Questions

Objective: Simplify algebraic expressions by collecting like terms and then simplifying. 35 questions which identify particular types of questions like "a- a = 0" and not "0a", etc. The questions are copied from an excellent worksheet published by mathsmalakiss. I've used his/her worksheet which you can download yourself. However I have placed the questions into a PowerPoint to aid teaching. Percentage of a Quantity Lesson Starter WITH ANSWERS :) Bubble Spider Quick Routes Method

(0)
Objective: Be able to find the percentage of a quantity (such as money amount) using a non calculator method. Real simple starter. Display the PowerPoint on the whiteboard. Print out the Starter worksheets onto A6 sized sheets or even 2 x 2 Label Sheets and the students come in, see the displayed slide and know to get straight onto their "bell task". Great way to settle them down. Use as a recap for last lesson or like I did to push them onto a harder example that just whole numbers. Use the enclosed Answers to check their working and so understanding. I call this method "Percentage by Quick Routes".. Usually taught via "bubble" or "spider" charts. See my other resources for more examples. Objective: Know basic number properties such as factor, square, LCM, HCF, etc. Twenty questions on a PowerPoint which any class can do as a nice ender plenary which students seem to always enjoy. The PowerPoint has the 20 questions and then the 20 questions with the answers. You could always not display to the class the PowerPoint until going through the answers so it becomes a mental arithmetic test. Fraction Decimal Percentage Starter Plenary Collaborative Table Group Warm Up Exercise

(0)
Objective: Convert between common fractions, decimals and percentages and know common equivalents A simple table collaborative group activity worksheet where the students fill in as many sets of fractions decimals and percentage equivalents that they can remember. It is a good settling starter activity or a good recap plenary exercise to end with. Once they have done several minutes or so, start reading out sets of answers like "1/2 = 0.5 = 50%", etc. Then when you have exhausted your list ask the students to read out any more they have. Then award points to the most unique ones a table has. Most points = winning table. It's a good activity which gets them communicating as they try to get unique sets of equivalents. You can you this in many ways: Grade the work you are giving by difficulty. Indicate on each question what grade they are from green to black. Either tell the students to do all the greens first and then move on, or allow them to choose what colour to start on. Or go around the classroom indicating to each student what they have to start on. Get students to write their own questions to set to other members of the class. Ask them to grade it from Green to black. This is good for assessing what they are comfortable at and what they think they are capable of. The PPTX can be printed out onto A3 as a poster for the wall. I sometimes need a harder than black and calling it double black seems to fit. When time allows I print the questions (with their colour grade) on a sheet of A4 sticker labels. I then give each table a sheet which will have all the questions on. If your table has four students on it there will be a discussion if there are only three green questions as someone will have to do a blue. This idea came from someone else who routinely ski route grades all their work and allows the learners to start at the level most appropriate to them. I had previously seen it presented as here are four questions on the board, now choose the question you want to do first. Recently I have seen people (and now used it myself) where several questions are given and the students have to grade them and explain why they think one is easier than the others. This ties in with my Maths Mastery Kung Fu Panda (see other premium resource) Enjoy

Tony cycled 3 kilometres to town. He walked 200 metres along the street to a burger bar. He ordered a 250 gram burger and a 330 millilitres can of cola. The burger was excellent, it was 2.5 centimetres thick. You read the students a story like above and then they write their own. It's very creative and makes great displays. Insist that use the specified measures. There's loads of different versions of theis worksheet from all the different times I've used it. Pcik the one which suits your learners best.
