These two sheets describe parts of speech in the English language. They could be used as revision aids by children before assessment tests.

These are two Christmas-themed certificates which can be given to children at the end of the Autumn term to celebrate the work that they have done. You could add their names in the central box, or your own name.

Day and Night Two-Way Pictures

These look great when they are finished. I have given clear instructions on the first sheet and pictures of an example which I created. The trick is to keep the pictures as simple as possible so that the children can recreate them for day and night. They are a bit difficult to display, but children are fascinated by seeing the difference from one side and then the other.

Christmas Coordinates

This is a Christmas maths resource, using coordinates. The coordinates are given for the figure of Father Christmas, but I have not given the coordinates for the background, suggesting that children can have their own choice of colour to fill in the grid. I have included a colour answer sheet.

Make sense of your food

These two sheets provide an explanation of how to carry out tests using only the sense of smell with a chart to fill in. I choose 10 different foods and get the children to smell each one. They write down what they think it is and we discover the correct answers at the end of the lesson. I do this activity as part of a project on food and the digestive system.

I've adapted this experiment from a Scholastic science book. The work is carried out as part of a topic on food, health and hygiene. The children really enjoy looking at the food when it has started going mouldy and can record their results on the chart, either in writing or pictures.

A Healthy Diet

These sheets form part of a project on food and good health. The first sheet provides information about food and what different foods do for your body. The children then have to place different types of food onto the wheel of food and good health. I would recommend photocopying the wheel onto A3 paper so that the pictures of food can be cut out and stuck on in the right place. Alternatively, children can draw pictures of food onto the wheel.

Tutankhamun enlargement

As part of a project on Ancient Egypt the children create an enlargement of this image of Tutankhamun. Number the back of the image in black and white to match the numbers on the coloured picture. Cut out 35 larger squares, (the size will depend on how big you want the final image to be). Give each child in the class a small piece of the image and ask them to recreate it to scale on the large square. The final picture can be painted or coloured. I have also tried a collage version using shiny paper. It makes a really good display in the class and the children enjoy collaborating to produce the final picture.

This worksheet can be used for children to record details about their teeth. The children will need small mirrors to carry out the observations.

Reading Log with book review sheets

I have used the reading log sheet for different class reading books. At the end of the book, the reading log requires children to design a new front cover, (with blurb) and to review the book. I use the two review sheets printed on two sides of a piece of paper so that the children can have their cover design and review together.
