This big bundle contains all of the special words and stories lessons, plus the knowledge organiser! The engaging and informative lessons develop children’s understanding of the Bible, the Megillat Esther, and the Guru Granth Sahib, as special books of the Christian, Jewish and Sikh faiths respectively. Children learn key facts about the books, important information about stories that these books contain, and how the books are treated by worshippers. Furthermore, they consider their own personal spirituality, considering the stories and books that are special to them. The are six lessons included, which should be taught in the following order: 1.The Bible 2.Personal Beliefs 3.The Lord’s Prayer 4.The Megillat Esther 5.The Guru Granth Sahib 6.Comparing Special Books In each lesson, the learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through a step-by-step learning journey. There are also all of the reading and worksheets included - everything that you need to teach the lessons. In the past, I have used these lessons with children from across Key Stage 1 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. There are six lessons in total, with two lessons each focusing on the Christian, Buddhist and Muslim faiths respectively. The lessons should be taught in the following order: Christianity - The Good Samaritan (belief in compassion/ forgiveness); Christianity - The Life of a Vicar Buddhism - How Buddhists Live Buddhism - Buddhist Monks and Nuns Islam - Muslim Prayer Islam - The Holy Month of Ramadan In each lesson, the learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through a step-by-step learning journey. These resource booklets contain a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use in guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of children towards meeting the Year 5 and Year 6 expectations within the new National Curriculum framework. Children love learning from these resources, whilst they are also of great use to teachers, as there is explicit information within each task regarding which comprehension strands the task is designed to demonstrate. They are also generic enough to ensure that they are appropriate for use with all texts. Both the Year 5 Booklet and the Year 6 Booklet (normally 2 pounds each) are included. I’ve also thrown in a literacy writing mat for free!
