I'm Head of History and have also taught Maths, English, Religious Studies. I enjoy creating my own resources and try, whenever possible, to insert a splash of humour into them; I find this makes them more memorable, fun and therefore effective.

Writing, reading and colouring resource

Once Upon My Book injects fun and interaction into both writing and reading by enabling your pupils to be the ‘author’ of their very own book. Through tracing the shape of letter outlines to form words and then sentences, colouring in illustration outlines and adding their own personal touches, your pupils can really be at the centre of their very own book. All the words in *Once Upon My Book *that your pupils trace and learn to read are written in the precursive style taught in many schools. Each story also contains High Frequency Words and tricky words from the Letters and Sounds. This helps pupils become familiar with writing, reading and learning these important words, reinforcing and building on the teaching done at school in a fun and exciting way. Suitable for Reception, Year 1 and SEN pupils.

A History Rocks! resource. Done with a splash of humour, this resource looks at the reasons men signed up to fight in the First World War. There are three levels of differentiation: the first level has just the questions. Level 2 has sentence starters. Level three has sentence starters and a number of hints, ensuring that there is a level for each pupil. All pupils answer the **Understanding **questions which will give them a basic understanding of the topic. The Historical Enquiry questions extend them more and require pupils to expand and explain their thinking; the answers are subjective. There is also a Creative Work section where they can demonstrate their learning and understanding in a creative manner. There is also an exercise where pupils analyse and comment on some famous WW1 propaganda posters and rate them accordingly.
