This is a weeks worth of planning on place value. It includes alot of mathematical questioning to tap into the children's understanding and allows them to understand the concept in depth. The planning includes links to interactive games online to be used to encourage all types of learners. It also teachers children to look at the 1000 before and 1000 after, aswell as looking at the value of each digit. Children will also be taught how to write a number in words and vice versa. This resource includes a weeks lesson plan and a presentation.

Enjoy some fun Maths activities by engaging the children with the World Cup 2022. The country of Qatar is getting ready for 2022, so why shouldn’t we? A mathematical activity to engage children with converting units of measure (World Cup Theme). Lesson Plan included. Familiarise the children with the layout of the stadiums. Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium. For example: How long will it take A to get to Lusail stadium? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Lusail stadium. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Children must then fill in a table with their findings. A fun activity for the whole class. Please let me know what you and your class thought of this resource- I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I have included a map of Qatar with the football stadiums.

A week's worth of planning focusing on 2D shape. The planning is extremely detailed and well differentiated to ensure each learner can access the content. It involves fun lessons that can be carried out outside (weather permitted) and also introduces children to irregular shapes also. The week is full activities that contain lots of useful, topical Mathematical language, while encouraging children to explain 'why'. My Year 1 class thoroughly enjoyed these lessons. ***A 20 PAGE MENTAL MATHS SUPPORT BOOKLET*** This is a booklet I created to support a year 3 child with their mental maths. I am a private tutor and a class teacher so I like to have 'go to' booklets and resources to use for my tutoring sessions. This booklet is aimed to bring a year 3 child up to speed with mental maths for term 1. However, it's a good starting point for any child in KS2 who is not confident in their mental maths. The objectives covered in this booklet are: Use place value and number facts to add and subtract numbers Subtract by counting up Learn to count in 3’s and 4’s and know the 3x and 4x table. 10 higher level thinking questions for deepening understanding and developing mathematical language Having studied in a course based on AFL strategies, I have a new found love (so to speak) for asking higher level questions during lessons to evoke discussion between students. The more they discuss concepts, the deeper their understanding will grow. With this in mind, I created these colourful cards to be cut, laminated and given to my year 4 class once a week to create ‘colourful’, intentional discussion. As we are all aware, there are many different types of learners, and children remember 90% of the information that teach someone else. Therefore, by engaging in critical thinking in maths, they will essentially be “teaching” their partner why their reasoning is correct through having to “prove” it to them. My class adored this and the intentional discussion kept them engaged in the task for much longer as they had to get their personal opinions across. This packet is hands-on, FUN, engaging and provides students with a meaningful way to help master basic multiplication facts from 2-12 while having FUN! Tic-Tac-Toe/X’s and O’s Multiplication is a fun way for students to practice basic multiplication facts. This game is played just like the traditional game of tic-tac-toe but with multiplication facts. *Each player uses a different colored game piece to mark their choice. Students must solve the problems correctly to place an X or an O on the board. Three is a row wins the game! *Each game board focuses on a specific multiplication table or there’s an option for mixed multiplication tables. In addition, each game board allows students to work/see multiplication problems two different ways.

Multiplication: Timed Tests Multiplication Tests are a great way for students to show progress with math fact fluency. Each multiplication test will focus on a specific number or a review of a set of numbers. *There are 24 problems on each page. The goal is to improve speed and accuracy. Each page has a place to record the time and score for the test. There is a test for: x2 x3 x4 x5 x6 x7 x8 x9 x10 x11 x12 Mixed I have also included a challenge section at the bottom to extend their learning even further.

**OBSERVATION LESSON** A co-worker of mine asked would I plan a lesson observation with them on angles. A few years ago, I taught a similar lesson for an observation. Basically, this resource contains: A clear, detailed and differentiated lesson plan A simple but colourful powerpoint to use as a guideline 3 activities differentiated into high, middle and low Angle creators with arrows (just print, laminate and secure with a split pin). This lesson aims to engage a variety of learners. By using the angle creator, visual and kinesthetic learners can practically make the different types of angles that are being taught in this lesson. (Acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle, straight line angle) HA are extended by asking children to label the angles found in 2D shapes and how to measure them by using a protractor. The plenary asks children to spot angles in the clock face. A really enjoyable lesson. Please review.

Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium. For example: How long will it take A to get to Kazan stadium? Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Krazan stadium. If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm. 1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes Children must then fill in a table with their findings.

A selection of resources to help your children understand fractions. These resources are saved as word documents so they are easy to edit to suit the needs of your class. This Simple Fractions NO PREP packet is full of FUN, ENGAGING activities for students to learn. All you need to do is print and go. Here is what is included in this Simple Fraction Packet: *Fraction Helpcard- The helpcard is a self-contained one page card which explains the terms numerator, denominator and can be shrunk, laminated and kept inside children’s book. *Fractions Page- Students see examples of 1, 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 of a fraction. After looking at a shaded fraction, students are asked to identify the shaded part and the part that is not shaded. *Color the Fraction- Students are required to color 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 of a each fraction. This pages uses different shapes to help students recognize fractions within divided objects. *Roll and Color a Fraction- This interactive game allows one or two students to roll a die, and color a fraction in that column. This resource includes a detailed plan for a week on subtraction. The plan is differentiated and explicitly lays out what each group will do for their activity each day. Objectives covered are: Using column method accurately Using the inverse to check my answers Solving word problems involving subtraction I have also included levelled SATs questions as an extension to extend or assess children's application of subtraction. These lessons were taught by myself and my year 4 team, who found the outcomes to understanding subtraction were successful. I have attached a maths skill check also, which I have started to use for the first lesson each week to check children's understanding of a variety of mathematical concepts.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 is HERE! Coming from a ‘football crazy’ class, I knew my class would want to spend the end of year engaging with content based around the FIFA world cup. This resource involves the whole class and is a way to consolidate maths through the World Cup. I have included: PPT for the names of 30 children PPT for the names/groups of the countries in the World Cup Scoreboard to track who is winning/competing against who. Research sheet to engage children with the country they chose Over 45 different maths questions WITH answers Game rules Example of a layout of who plays who Children names will be drawn from a hat along with a country. They will then be representing this country in the game. Children will roll a dice 6 times. If either competing team rolls a 6, this equates to one goal IF they can answer the a maths question (included) correctly. If they get it incorrect, the goal has been saved by their opponent. Aimed at KS2. Can be eaily adapted for your children too. In my class, there are only 18 students, but I have included enough for 30. (As there is 2 extra teams, the first two children ‘out’ can come back in. An exhilarating, fun activity for those ‘End of Year’ days that we all crave activities for. We really enjoyed it :)

This embeds the idea that will be used for the week. This resource contains a detailed lesson plan, powerpoint and lesson starter to help you teach children how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. I spent a long time making this resource as I wanted to ensure children understand how to use the correct terminology i.e. numerator, denominator, whole etc. The powerpoint is extremely detailed and contains pictorial representation as well as numerical to satisfy the needs of visual learners also. The powerpoint also contains key questions, encouraging children to explain 'why' something happens. This is very effective for the overall understanding of adding and subtracting fractions. The activities are on the powerpoint, hence why there is no activity attached. There is also a challenge embedded in the plenary aimed to be completed in mixed ability pairs, in order to push on the high ability children and secure the understanding of the class.
