This mathematics article provides the answer to that age old student question: When will we ever use this in real life? Well the answer as it turns out could be given in the perfect grab and go, print and provide resource that can supplement lessons.
It is an article with questions to check comprehension and inspire mathematical thinking with real life connections. I am very happy with this small series of mathematics articles and they are rich with information and the why and when of mathematics. Each mathematics article includes a fun fact(s) to add to the knowledge gained from this article. Formatted in an easy to read and digest manner, each paragraph is numbered to help with referencing and each question answer has a paragraph reference number to point to the specific information (where applicable). They also have two images as well to give a bit of visual flair for students to enjoy.
WHY / WHEN TO USE:
Useful for substitute (sub) teaching
To extend students
To increase English literacy in your class
A weekly reading task
To teach mathematics and English in an interdisciplinary manner
Great as a lesson filler when class goes too fast
To inspire students on a particular topic
To get students to connect the mathematics they are learning to real life
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
3 page Word doc teacher version with answers
2 page Word doc student version with room to fill in answers (text boxes)
3 page PDF teacher version with answers
2 page PDF student version without answers (but space left to do so)
More will be coming to cover other subjects and other topics, so please do keep an eye out for more science articles from The Teaching Astrophysicist!

These flashcards are perfect for practicing fluency and could be used actively in class or could be left in the background for students to consider and reflect on during class to keep practicing their fluency and learning.
Unfortunately, TES will not allow the upload of google drive files / folders. However all these flashcards have directly downloaded from google drive into powerpoints and should be in good format when simply reuploaded to google drive again.
These too a long time to make sure they were fully developed and the sets should be complete with every possible combination, if there are any mistakes then please do let me know!
If you would prefer to look at addition and subtraction flashcards, then for physical flashcards, then please consider these: physical flashcards
If you would prefer slightly cheaper flashcards, then there are a set without dinosaurs: digital flashcards
OR a set of addition and subtraction WITH dinosaurs! Then maybe this set of flashcards: dinosaur flashcards

This is an IB MYP unit bundle - The Problem with Money - which is ideal for students relating mathematics and various aspects of money. This unit engages students with fractions, decimals, percentages, flowcharts, univariate and bivariate data, graphs and pie charts and a great deal more in a broad conceptual understanding. It contains many, many resource links suggested for this unit and makes clear a set of points that students should know, understand and be able to do by the end of the unit. It also has some clear and interactive formative assessments and summative assessments.
This bundle includes:
The MYP unit planner
Algorithmic thinking-flowchart powerpoint
Be an accountant - case study
Mind your money budget example
The problem with money task specific clarifications (Criteria B task)
A unit summary to be used to introduce the unit to students
This unit is heavily detailed and ideal for something that is truly prepared to use in the classroom. It should run for approximately 6 weeks (assuming 3 lessons a week).
If instead you are looking for an MYP unit planner also for mathematics, but based on measurement and related concepts, then consider the mathematical vision unit plan or for geometry and artworks, try the Art of Mathematics unit plan. For science and young students in MYP and which would be an ideal first unit, then consider: Nature of Science - introductory unit plan. For around the same age group, but in science - for MYP 2 / 3 an alternative IB MPY unit planner would be: the Food and Energy unit planner or the Growth unit planner.
If rather for younger students you want to integrate both mathematics and STEM, then you might consider: MYP Artifical limb unit.
For older MYP students, then I would suggest The NGSS related - Zero impact (sustainable housing) or for an Interdisciplinary unit - the Electricity / lightning MYP STEM IDU.
