Pupils learn to describe a situation where an athlete may experience a conflict between the requirements of their religious belief and the demands of their sport, to identify and explain any religious beliefs/practices associated with the potential conflict and to discuss factors that will influence choices for a person facing such a conflict. The resource can be used with S1/S2/S3 classes (Scotland) or year 7/8/9 (England) and it is designed to last 1-2 periods. Pupils are encouraged to debate, to express their own opinions and to think more deeply about this topic. Learn and play at the same time! ‘St. Columba’ crosswords are designed not just for creating ‘busy-work’ for students, but for engaging the students in the learning process and enhancing their learning experience. Crosswords are well-known as being a very popular activity with students. They offer a simple and creative way to incorporate active learning into your teaching! Differentiation All your students can benefit from this resource. The clues are differentiated to suit all ability levels. There are two different crosswords included which are created for more able (crossword 1) and less able pupils (crossword 2). The crosswords are further differentiated by giving the pupils the option to choose the activity they want to do for each crossword. There are three versions that you can use. ‘Exploring the Holocaust Project’ is an ideal activity to be used at the end of the unit 'Exploring the Holocaust’. It is designed to be used over a number of weeks and it is flexible in that you can choose how much time to spend on each section. Aim of this research Teaching Holocaust history demands a high level of sensitivity and awareness of the complexity of the subject matter. In Part 2, students choose one aspect of the Holocaust, research from a website and make notes about key points, write up their findings, and reflect on what they have read and written. Also, there is an option for students to present their projects.
