‘Exploring the Holocaust Project’ is an ideal activity to be used at the end of the unit 'Exploring the Holocaust’. It is designed to be used over a number of weeks and it is flexible in that you can choose how much time to spend on each section.
Aim of this research:
Teaching Holocaust history demands a high level of sensitivity and awareness of the complexity of the subject matter. It is hoped that this research project will provide your students with a clearer understanding of the Holocaust as a story for all of humanity and will encourage them to think critically about important issues and values not only within the historical context of the Holocaust, but also in contemporary society.
‘Exploring the Holocaust Part 1 – Beginning to Investigate’ is the first in a series of resources which assists teachers and students to research various ways in which different people reacted to the Nazi regime and produce a report which fully investigates the chosen topic.
In Part 1, students identify the five topics they can choose from, and they are given guidelines on how to write the report and to gather basic information about their topic.
At the end of this topic you can celebrate students’ success with one of these certificates.
