Is the conspiracy theory true: Was there really a Brisbane Line? If it is true, what parts of the conspiracy theory are true and what are false? This homework source-based activity is designed to create understanding and interest in the NSW History syllabus for the Australian Curriculum Stage 5 Depth Study 3: Australians at War World War II Students analyse a range of primary and secondary, visual and written source materials to determine the truth behind the conspiracy theory. The truth, of course, was that there was a plan to pull back Australian military resources to a line between Adelaide and Brisbane in the event of Japanese invasion but that the plan was rejected by the Commonwealth Government who adopted the policy of all out war rather than concession. The plan paid off with Australian and American forces slowly rolling back Japanese forces from New Guinea.

This is the second Powerpoint presentation in a series on The Holocaust. It is designed for Stage 5 History Australian National Curriculum Topic 6 - School Developed Topic: The Holocaust. It is largely unreferenced and contains graphic images and disturbing information that requires a flyer to be given to parents at the start of the topic. Despite this, the knowledge of genocide generally and exploring of concepts relating to how individuals are affected and how they attempt to deal with the issue is introduced. There is an emphasis on how genocide has affected the Gunnedah community in the New England Region of NSW. However, it can be adapted to other schools and communities. Embedded video clips will not work but you can insert your own clips from YouTube or another source. This presentation is aimed at Gifted and Talented learners.

This Powerpoint presentation is Presentation 3 of a series on The Holocaust and is designed for Stage 5 students studying Depth Study 6 School Developed Topic: The Holocaust. It is part of the History Australian National Curriculum. It provides an overview of the nature of genocide and Gregory Stanton's eight stages of genocide. This provides a context to the depth study on the Jewish Holocaust in Nazi Germany in the 1920s-1940s. The embedded videos won't operate. However, you can modify the slides and embed your own videos or locate the ones that I have used on YouTube. An important part of this presentation is coming to an understanding of the good and evil in us individually and collectively and how we can live with past injustices.
