WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION EXPAND AND SIMPLIFY B

(0)
The second lesson that follows on from lesson A. In this lesson the students will expand a bracket and then simplify with another two terms under addtion and subtraction. The resource is differentiated and the first level of questions expands the brackets for the student and asks them to simplify. The second level sess students expand their own brackets and simplify under addition. The third level includes negative numbers. The resource can be printed into a booklet so that students can write on. Answers are not supplied. There is also a mental starter of 10 questions.
ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY GCSE FOUNDATION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY GCSE FOUNDATION

(0)
An introduction to rotational symmetry: a topic for some reason all lower ability students accept and then forget! The fully animated powerpoint shows the tracing of a shape and spinning it around 1 full revolution. Other examples are then shown. The fully differentiated resource goes from 1 star (multi choice) to 3 star (demanding complete the shape so that it has rotational symmetry type questions). All tasks can be printed and written on, although you may have to adjust the dimensions of the sheet so that it prints near perfect square grids (this will affect the quarter turns). Answers are not given
WHOLE LESSON: SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS

(0)
Multiple lessons and resources to take a KS3/4 class from the very start of simultaneous equations through to more complex examples. I teach it via matching the coefficient of the middle term and then applying different sign add or same sign subtract. The powerpoint takes the students through the phases of the work where, at first the coefficients match. Then students will have to multiply through to enable a match. Finally there is manipulation of both equations required. At least 5 different resources, many of which can be written on and some answers are contained. Homework task is available also.
GCSE FOUNDATION: MEAN OF SMALL DISCRETE DATA SET
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

GCSE FOUNDATION: MEAN OF SMALL DISCRETE DATA SET

(0)
A classic lesson that introduced students to how to calculate the mean. The resource is fully differentiated and can be written on. It contains standard calculate the mean questions and the reverse questions where students are asked to complete a set of cards whose mean is given. There is a code-breaker exercise included
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION EXPANSION OF BRACKETS A

An entire lesson for students working at grades 1/2/3. There is a starter of 10 multi-choice questions (with answers), a powerpoint which takes students through how to expand brackets of the type a(bx + c), a fully differentiated resource which students can write on. The first level is multi-choice and the other levels are written solutions (note the answers to the questions are not supplied). There is a "check out" which I use as a plenary to assess what learning has taken place.

Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

FOUNDATION GCSE REVISION OF EQUATION SOLVING: WHOLE LESSON

(0)
An entire lessons devoted to re-visiting the various equations a lower ability foundation student (or younger student) will have to tackle. This goes from one step (x + a = b) through to classic two step (ax + b = c), through brackets (a(bx+c)=d) and finally letters on both sides (ax+b=cx+d). The equations are nearly all positive integer solutions and so can be solved without a calculator. The resource can be written on and is full differentiated from 1 star (lots of support and little variation in the style) to 3 star (simply the equation). I have included another document which is a little more watered down. The powerpoint takes students through how to solve equations by inverse operations. Note there are no answers to the task
