These worksheets introduce students to the positive and negative impacts humans are having on the rainforests, and whether these are social, political, or economic. Strategies for lessening the impact on these vulnerable environments are discussed with the students debating which of these would be best going forward. The worksheets conclude with the students being given the background context, Brazilian government’s plan, and environmental effect on the area. They then answer what benefits there could be for developing the gas resources found at Urucu. A range of individual and group activities are incorporated within this worksheet including gathering research from print, and annotating their thoughts and ideas.
