Lesson 2 - How are people tried for crimes?

To know what a magistrate, judge, barrister and jury are
To understand the difference between a magistrates’ court, a crown court and a Youth court

Lesson examining the concept of parliamentary government and the key features of a parliamentary system and presidential system (comparison).
Pupils asked to evaluate to what extent the UK is becoming more presidential and includes brief explanation of the different theories of parliamentary government.

Learning Objectives
To describe the work of Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch
To demonstrate how different factors enabled them to succeed
To evaluate how significant an impact their work had on the development of medicine
Lesson examining UN action and effectiveness through examining case studies of genocide. Only 4 case studies provided - Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur and Syria - template for making more case study cards is included at end of ppt.
Cold War; Superpower Relations A-level (Sino-Soviet Relations 1949-1976)
Learning Objectives
To identify the relationship between China and the USSR in 1949
To explain why and how the relationship changed (consolidation, split and confrontation)
To assess the significance of ping pong diplomacy and the impact of this on Sino-US relations
Lesson examining who had the stronger army - William or Harold. Lesson examines how wars are fought today and what factors could influence the outcome of the war. Pupils then use these factors to examine who's army was stronger - including picture sources of different soldiers for analysis and evaluation. Plenary = quizbusters.
