Task that asks pupils to interpret data about the performance of football teams and then place 10 teams into a league table based on the information provided. They will need to works systematically and use the following maths skills: ordering addition multiplication subtraction finding the difference use negative numbers in context copy and place data into a table correctly work logically and systematically Task can be differentiated by changing expectation of what you wish pupils to do - e.g. you might just ask children to order the teams and simply provide their total points. Greater depths could be asked to fill the whole table with minimal support. The cover page contains a couple of tips but this is down to the teacher to discretion as to how much support ‘tips’ they wish to provide.

Problem solving task to stretch children working at either expected levels or greater depth. This can be done either as a group, partnered or individual exercise and gives a workout of the following skills: area perimeter the four operations money application of skills - where and when to apply a certain operation Some aspects of task may require some support from an adult or more able peer - particularly at the lower end of y5. Answers (with formulas that work towards the answer) are included for ease of marking.

A reading comprehension exercise consisting of 4 passages of text and two 3 mark questions accompanying each. The exercise is designed to help children infer from evidence given in the next when meaning is not always directly described. The task can be carried out independently, as a group guided session or whole class exercise. Answers are provided for ease of marking for guidance - teachers can use their discretion upon marking.

Two starter exercises for warming up the word - a good starter for when children come in first thing in the morning - can be continued as the morning exercise throughout the week. 1st exercise = 48 synonyms to be matched. 2nd exercise = 48 antonyms to be matched. Work requires knowledge of area (rectangle, triangle and parallelogram), perpendicular height and when to use the four operations to solve different parts of the problem.

Short Halloween poem that can be read just for comprehension or performed as a rap, either through guided reading, in groups or as a whole class. Poem is accompanied by a 17 mark reading comprehension quiz that focuses on: fact/opinion retrieval synonyms true and false chronological ordering Separate answer sheet is included for ease of marking.

A differentiated series of 3 worksheets, ranked with 1-3 chilli peppers, containing ratio word problems (8 per sheet). Children can choose their difficulty or teacher can differentiate. Offers opportunity to move onto a more challenging set of problems if the former turns out to be too easy. Worksheet that gives students a full 4 operations workout, combining fluency and application in solving word problems. Resource includes 3 differentiated worksheets to cater for low ability year 5 through to high ability year 6 (one, two and three star sheets). Problems include: addition/subtraction multiplication/division long multiplication/long division/short division times table practise one, two and multi-step problems/operations Good for SAT revision, general workout after a holiday, holding task, extension to any work being conducted within additive or multiplicative reasoning. A mean average word problem task with two levels of differentiation. Basic finding the mean and a second sheet incorporating more challenging problems. Basic word problems Interpreting information from tables and find the mean For the two short, a question is also included that includes fractions and giving a fractional answer (this will involve adding fractions with different denominators and finding the average of the result). This worksheet is available in both Word and PDF formats and can be given out in class as part of a plenary, main activity or for online learning.

3 Differentiated Grids of words (20 in each) that are often spelled incorrectly. Children start off with a number points and lose 10, 100 or 1000 points for each incorrect spelling they have circled (number of points lost depends on the difficulty of the challenge). Lower Ability will start on 200 points and focuses mostly on short/frequently used words that are often seen to be spelled incorrectly. Middle Ability will start with 2000 points. Higher Ability (more challenging content) start with 20,000 points. Task is ideal for a starter challenge - at the beginning of the school day or English/literacy. Answer Sheets are included in a separate document for either teacher, peer or self marking.

9 differentiated problems that have to be solved using inverse operations and basic knowledge of algebra. Children can complete the tasks in pairs, groups or independently. There are three 1 star sheets for chn working towards. There are three 2 star sheets for chn working around EXP level. There are three 3 star sheets for chn working at GDP and need a greater challenge (the GDP problems bleed more into the four operations as opposed to the other sheets that focus on addition and subtraction).
