I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Calculator Issues - Standard Form

A simple worksheet to practice reading and writing numbers in standard form using the calculator context. I have included the Word documents but the text might not appear in "calculator font" as I had to download a special font (just Google "Calculator Writing Font" and it's the first link and free from a company called "Digital 7").

Mick owns a printing firm and is doing an audit. His employees like amounts in improper fractions, Mick likes his as mixed numbers. Help both Mick and his employees communicate the amounts of printing equipment they have in stock. Just a quick activity to practice converting...

Find the appropriate equivalent fraction and find the punchline to Tim Vine’s joke; designed as a bit more practice for some of my Year 7 and 8 classes, but could be useful for others. I have uploaded PDF versions so those who don’t have Equation Editor can see them; no need to thank me…

Answer the differentiation questions, find the letters and reveal the punchline to a (terrible) joke. My class in Year 12 actually request these only to groan enormously when the answer is revealed. Just meant for a bit of practice, a starter or a plenary. Version 2 contains second derivatives.

Scooby and the gang are pursuing various ghosts/monsters on different curves but health and safety have visited Mystery Incorporated and told them the gradients that are safe to drive/slide along. Can you help Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy and Scooby with these curvy conundrums?

Equations of Lines Codebreaker

This is higher GCSE or A Level co-ordinate geometry which involves rearranging equations to the form ax+by+c=0, finding an equation given a point etc. The joke made my class groan massively, but I was in stitches mainly due to their reaction!

Completing The Square - Codebreaker

Solve the quadratic equations by completing the square to find the punchline to a (pretty average) joke. My Year 12s liked it as a quick reminder though! Some involve rearranging first and they aren't too difficult - I will use them with Year 11 too.

Find the letters with the given probabilities to find the punchline to the joke! I'm particularly pleased with this joke as I made it up!!!
