I really wanted some frequency polygon work but it is very thin on the ground, so I came up with this. I have also linked the website from which I got all the data. There are two versions; one (Raw Data) where they must tabulate first, and a second (Data Tables) for those you just want to get on with graphing and interpreting.

I found this poster with various numbers regarding the World Cup in Brazil and made this activity from it. Change the questions at will. I have also put a link to the website 'My Life In Numbers' as that has a new 'Live Event' measuring from the start of the tournament.

I found the 'Research' section on the Sport England website and noticed that their graphs and charts are more aesthetically focused than useful. I therefore came up with this. There's loads of useful stuff on the website (which is hyperlinked in the powerpoint), especially the infographics bit in 'Who Plays Sport?'.

The owners of P&Q have ordered labels but they have been delivered in the wrong units - can you convert them into the units required?

The two bands are comparing notes with regards being in a band in different eras. The 1D boys work in metric, The Stones in imperial. Can you convert units between metric and imperial (and vice versa) for each band?

The 1D boys are describing what it's like to be a pop star but using all the wrong units of measurement; the measurements are correct, but the units need converting. This is an attempt to make metric conversions a bit of fun. I have produced two powerpoints depending on the ability of your class: 1. highlighted to make the units stand out; 2. not highlighted.

The Easter Bunny has decided to leave eggs on co-ordinates on linear graphs. Find the co-ordinates of the eggs. He has also left eggs but mixed up the equations; can you match the correct equations with the correct graphs?

There are four activities. The first is reading from a distance-time graph of one of EB’s deliveries. The ere are two sets of information where you must draw the distance-time graph. Using Stage 8 of the 2013 Tour de France, a stage won by Chris Froome, can you use his timings (as accurate as I could get from the official Tour website) to answer the questions. It’s basically speed calculations. There are links to the website and a video ‘hook’ at the beginning.

This is a revision activity either to be done in small groups or individually. There are the following rounds: Number, Algebra, Shape and Space, Date Handling, Using and Applying. All have 10 questions worth one point each except the Using and Applying round where there are 5 questions worth 3 points each, where workings must be given.

Three of the characters are flying around Europe and need your help with the equations of the lines for their route. There are three (all on the same sheet) that get increasingly difficult. Depending on the confidence in this topic topic, start them where you see fit.

The Mathematician, that notorious terrorist, has put a series of bombs around the country, but each has a clue to defuse it. These cover many aspects of fractions, decimals and percentages and are numbered so that they get increasingly difficult. As I say, my classes like these as starters/plenaries, hence there are so many.

That terrorist, The Mathematician, is at it again. Make sure that you cut the right coloured wires to save everyone! This involves basic linear graphs, through more complicated linear graphs to quadratics and non-linear graphs (cubics, reciprocals and exponentials). My students seem to like this Defuse The Bomb concept, so as Simple Minds said in the Eighties, 2 Unlimited in the Ninieties, and just about any artist since the Millennium: if it ain't broke, don&'t fix it.

Find the lengths of the tunnels using the Sine and Cosine Rules. The students have to decide which to use with the information that they have. An attempt to show a use for the mathematics in a real life sense.
