Ideal to show as an extension to studying approaches, issues and debates. The PPT slides progressively cover what is intelligence and the development of artificial intelligence and artificial life forms (AL). Development of AI includes: The Chinese Room, The Turin Test (and Eugene who recently passed), ASIMO, CYCORPS and Wetware. Students are asked to consider a range of difficult issues including: Can a machine become a life-form, should it have ethical protection, who should monitor the development (doomsday scenarios) and do you need embodiment to be sentient? Consists of a PPT display (32 slides) with under slide comments linking to online videos; to supplement understanding. Within the slides are activities and things to think about. You are welcome to amend, expand or reduce the display to suit your needs.
