I am an experienced secondary English teacher. My resources focus around the new AQA specification for KS4 and the majority of my KS3 schemes also aim to build the skills needed to work towards the AQA GCSE. I am a huge fan of engaging pupils and my lessons therefore focus around this aspect of teaching.

A series of five lessons in which students complete a hunt around the classroom to compile a timeline of events leading up to the fire and what happened afterwards. Students then complete a range of engaging activities including poster making, scavenger hunts in relation to articles and debates to decide who they think was to blame for the disaster. The final two lessons are based around writing a letter to the body they feel is to blame, persuading them to make amends for their actions. A detailed PowerPoint is included for all five lessons, along with all worksheets and resources needed.

A double (2x 50 minute) lesson on Kamikaze based around the new AQA specification poetry cluster: Power and Conflict. The lesson was rated outstanding. It is aimed a top set year 10/11 class but could be differentiated down easily. It focuses on challenge for higher ability. It aims to teach the poem in its entirety and sets students up for completed an extended response at the end of the lesson. It also contains a model answer in response to an exam style question.

A 6 week scheme of work including 3 4-part lessons per week, aimed at KS3. This scheme could be suitable for all abilities with slight differentiation. Scheme includes a range of engaging activities, regular quizzes to test knowledge, practice extended response lessons with feedback and an assessment lesson. Detailed feedback sheets are also included. The scheme uses page numbers based on the Penguin 1993 edition of the novel but is easily adaptable to other editions. All worksheets are included along with a 144 slide presentation.

This is a complete scheme of work for William Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream.' It consists of 11 weeks worth of lessons (3 per week) aimed at a year 7 group, although would be appropriate for any key stage three class with differentiation. There are lessons on relevant contextual information, along with scene by scene reading and analysis lessons. There are also practice PEEZR paragraph writing lessons at appropriate points in the text and feedback lessons including model answers for each question. All resources and worksheets are attached including links to relevant videos and audiobooks.
