A great picture, with activities to practise the present continuous tense.

I have made this for an EAL student at beginner level. I have used images from the 2009 movie (starring Jim Carrey). Hope it will be useful for some of you!

This is a series of contrasting pictures, with questions, for making comparisons. Good 'brain gym&' activity.

This is a 'Picture-based discussion&' topic. I put them in pairs and give them time to look at the sheet and make notes. One has to argue for the proposal and the other against. Great for starters in English or to develop more fully in PHSE.

This is to get the students using higher level language and thinking skills. They have to use conditionals with compound tenses (would have done/might have done) etc to be able to debate/discuss different possible outcomes.

This is an EAL newsletter for staff that is fully editable. I have included boxes for a 'student of the month&' feature and an interview with a member of staff. This was very welI received at my school and we had a competition to choose a name for the newsletter. We are undecided between The ReadEMA&'; and 'The Chitchat&'. I will be uploading issue 2 very soon!

This is a handout with twenty-seven sentences. They have to choose the correct homophone from the brackets. A key is included.

I am making a series of picture-based discussions on various topics of general interest. I use these during tutor period to get the group thinking, debating and writing.

Prompts for students to debate which snack is best - a packet of crisps, a bar of chocolate or an apple?

Some pictures to compare and contrast, with questions to promote a discussion about whether to have school uniform and what it should look like.

This is a series of images of women in various roles. The students have to say which image matches each stanza in 'A Woman To Her Lover&' and they have to justify their decisions.

Two pages - follow the instructions to colour the figures in/ write up the personal profiles/true or false/choose the correct word.

This is a brain gym type activity. The students are given a description and they must guess the word from the clue. 13 slides, going through the alphabet twice. The first section is easy and the second section has harder clues. Answers fly in at the end of each box.

The BBC is going to run this wonderful Christmas-themed clip until Christmas Eve, when apparently something wonderful will happen... (I think it will be Mum's return...). There are 20 questions here to test your students' observational skills. Full key included.
