OCR Chemistry electrode potentials

(0)
A pair of lessons covering sections 5.2.3 f-i of the OCR Chemistry specification- electrode potentials The first lesson starts by looking at what half-cells are, how they are formed and the importance of salt bridges. It also covers how they can be used to measure standard electrode potentials. The lesson then covers half equations and using them to calculate the voltage of a electrochemical cell. The second lesson looks at the feasibility of reactions and how they can be predicted using half-cells. It also looks at the limitations of using electrode potentials to predict reactions Both lessons include lots of student independent work tasks and all answers are included I am to reduce photocopying so all activties are in the PPTs (30 slides and 25 slides each)

OCR Chemistry making Carbon-carbon bonds

A full lesson covering section 6.2.4 a-d of the OCR Chemistry specification- making carbon-carbon bonds. The lesson starts by looking at why we need to form new carbon-carbon bonds. It then looks at the reactions with haloalkanes and acyl chlorides and the reaction mechanisms behind both. The lesson then looks at the reactions of the nitriles and how they can be used in organic synthesis. The final part of the lesson looks at the reactions with benzene and how additional side chains can be added. There are lots of student independent tasks and all answers are provided I aim to reduce photocopying so all activities are within the PPT (32 slides in total)

AQA Chemistry bond energy calculations

A complete lesson covering how to calculate bond energies. This lesson would support both the trilogy GCSE and the separate Chemistry course. The lesson starts with a retrieval starter covering a variety of topics form molecules 1-4 with answers It then recaps endo and exothermic reactions with examples including a video It then covers what is meant by a bond energy using a variety of examples. Students then work through some examples The lesson then moves onto calculating overall energy changes in reactions before going through some examples. There are then some independent examples for students to work through with answers The lesson finishes with some exam question examples All resources provided
