This is a complete lesson covering sections 6.4.1 d, e, f, g and h of the OCR Physics specification- the decay equation and half-life. It starts by introducing the decay equation with worked examples before outlining how dice simulation can be used to model nuclear decay. The lesson then moves to looking at activity as an alternative expression for the decay equation. Half-lives are then covered including how to calculate it and how to work it out form a graph. The lesson closes by looking at how age can be assessed using C-14 dating.
The lesson includes a starter, full notes, various student led activities and a differentiated summary at the end.
All answers are included.
I actively try to reduce photocopying, so all of the lesson resources are within the PowerPoint rather than as extra sheets.
This is a complete lesson covering sections 6.5.1 a-g of the OCR Physics specification- medical imaging using X-rays. It starts by introducing an X-ray tube and explaining how they work. It then moves onto varying the intensity of X-ray beams and how they can be used to produce images. Attenuation is the next topic along with a series of calculations. The lesson closes with looking at CAT scans and how they differ from X-rays. Each section has questions including exam style questions.
The lesson includes a starter, full notes, various student led activities and a differentiated summary at the end.
All answers are included.

A complete revision lesson covering electromagnetic waves from AQA topic P6. It is suitable for both Trilogy and single science.
The lesson opens by reminding students about the order of EM waves and their properties and dangers. There are then a couple of question based activities. The lesson then looks at X-rays and radio waves in particular using exam questions to cover ideas that regularly come up on exams (dosage and communication). The lesson then moves on to required practical 21 which is investigating infrared radiation. This is covered in two ways- on concerning absorption and the other emission along with accompanying activities. The lesson closes with a reminder of the wave speed equation in the context of a ripple tank.
All answers included
This lesson is designed to require no photocopying
Edited 09/05- additional question slides and answers added
A complete lesson covering section 5.2.1 and 5.2.2 of the OCR Physics specification- circular motion
It covers circular motion, centripetal force and acceleration and all associated equations. The lesson closes with a practical investigating and analysing circular motion
Lots of students activities included
All activities in PPT as I aim to reduce photos=copying
A complete lesson covering section 5.3.1 c-e of the OCR Physics specification- equations of Simple harmonic motion and PAG10.
It covers the equations for velocity, acceleration and displacement as well as their derivation. It includes lots of students activities
Also includes instructions for PAG10 which is an investigation into pendulums. You may also wish to add the sheet from the OCR interchange
I aim to reduce photocopying so all activities are in the PPT
All answers included
A pair of lessons and a worksheet covering sections 5.1.4 a-i of the OCR Physics specification- the gas laws
It covers:
The gas laws
The ideal gas
Kinetic theory
The effect of newtons Laws
Internal energy
PAG 8
The two lessons and the PAG take around 5 hours in total.
All answers are included
I generally try to reduce copying so other than the worksheet all resources are found in the lesson PPT
A complete revision lesson covering section 6.5.1-3 of the AQA trilogy course- forces.
It covers forces and their interactions, work done and energy transfer and elasticity.
The lesson includes a variety of student led activities, retrieval practice and exam questions
All answers provided
A complete lesson revising sections 6.2.1 and 6.2.1 of the AQA trilogy Physics specification- current, potential difference and resistance and series and parallel circuits.
The lesson includes lots of retrieval type activities and exam questions
The lesson covers:
Circuit symbols
Types of circuit
IV characteristics
The resistance of a wire required practical
Various calculations
Plugs and electrical safety
Answers provided and all activities are within the PPT
A set of physics revision or retrieval activities with answers.
Could be used as homework tasks / starter
Each one comprises a range of 20 questions covering topics in AQA Physics paper 1
When completing students tick the relevant box whether they were able to answer on what they remember (brain) or by using a textbook or revision guide (book). Teachers can then use this to target additional activities.
Later activities repeat questions which again adds to the retrieval aspect of the tasks
