This is an all inclusive worksheet pack on the well-known osmosis and potato chip investigation. In reality this practical does not always generate the expected results due to sources of error and time constraints to set up, hence why I have put this investigation pack together. All answers are provided for the teacher. The pack contains the following: Worksheet 1 introduces the set up of the investigation and pupils need to come up with a hypothesis. Pupils are given results and are asked to calculate change in mass and percentage change in mass. Three versions of the graph paper are provided, each with a different level of support, as many pupils will find drawing the graph with a negative y axis challenging. Worksheet 3 focuses on identifying the different variables and drawing a conclusion from the results. Worksheet 4 focuses on sources of error and how to improve the practical to reduce these, so focuses more on developing pupils’ evaluative skills.
