This resource is a set of 3 art lessons based around the theme of harvest for Key Stage 1. Children create three pictures based on Van Gogh’s series of wheatfield paintings. The key skills that are taught include creating different tones and shades with paint, pastel and pencil and experimenting with shapes and patterns. The lesson plans are very detailed and include a list of any resources you will need to get out of the cupboard. There are also details of curriculum links and examples of work from my class. I have included the PowerPoints I used for the series of lessons, which contains information about the artist, examples of the artists’ work around which the lessons are based and information about how bread is made. Also included are templates for the children to use. This is a 5 lesson Literacy unit all about Mary Seacole. The plan is aimed at year 2 and gives details of the year 2 curriculum objectives covered. The children develop reading comprehension, writing, editing and SPaG skills during the unit. All five lessons include a SPaG starter which is always linked to Mary Seacole. The main activity in lesson 1 is a non-fiction reading comprehension, which helps children to learn about Mary. This resource is a plan for 3 lessons on Jesus’s parables to be taught to KS2. The first lesson covers why Jesus used stories/parables to teach lessons. The parables that are covered in the following 2 weeks are ‘The parable of the lost son’ and ‘The parable of the mustard seed.’ The second 2 lessons can be taught in any order and encourage the children to consider how difficult it is to forgive and how Jesus hoped to spread the word of God.
