As part of my suggested Long Term Plan for the GCSE Film Studies (9-1) course, i will be beginning the course with an introductory unit in which we explore many of the key elements of the course linked to the horror genre. This will then feed into component 3 in which students can produce an extract from a horror film. By including an introductory unit, students will be given opportunity to explore all of the key areas before being shown any of the set texts and so enable a deeper level of analysis when the films themselves are explored. Plus, the component 3 piece will be strengthened with a thorough exploration of the genre, leaving a greater amount of time to focus on planning, filming and editing the coursework itself. This is lesson eight from the scheme of work. Lessons are being planned throughout the term so please return for updates. Accompanying Long Term Plan and Medium Term plan available through my shop. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. PLEASE NOTE, BACKGROUNDS ON ALL TEXT BOXES SHOULD BE FINE - PREVIEW ON TES DOESN’T MATCH ACTUAL POWERPOINT.

BACK DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND! Designed on Microsoft excel, this tracking document will help you keep track of the progress of your KS4 students, with specific columns for each of the questions on the exam paper. The sheet will auto calculate INDIVIDUAL GRADES FOR EACH QUESTION, total marks on the paper as well as total overall marks, which then feed into an overall grade based on the boundaries released by AQA (JUNE 2018 OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES). Furthermore, to account for boundary movement next year, I have added a buffer column which shows you the grade that would be achieved should the boundary increase by 5 marks on this year’s grade, as it did last year for some grades. All you need to do is add the pupil information from SIMS/your marksheet and the marks they have achieved for each question and the rest is done for you.

FULL BREAKDOWN AUTO CALCULATE EDUQAS NEW SPEC A LEVEL TRACKER SPREADSHEET JUNE 2017 WJEC BOUNDARIES

NEW TRACKER USING ACTUAL GRADE BOUNDARIES NOW AVAILABLE IN MY STORE This tracker, as with the others in my store, is designed to make the lives of your A level Media Studies teachers easier, whilst also providing an effective tool for promoting self evaluation in students. The formula is all in place, all you have to do is export the info from SIMS, copy and paste, then enter the marks for your mocks/assessed pieces as they’re done and as you complete each question, a predicted grade will be offered. When completing a component you will be given an overall predicted grade based on the % of marks that students has achieved. I have come to the final grade by calculating the % of marks students required in order to achieve each grade on the old spec (different for exam and coursework components). I have then reweighted this based on the number of marks available in the new spec. This, from what I can tell, is the best way of estimating grades on the new specification. As with all new specifications, this is guesswork. Please approach the grades given with caution and always explain to students/parents/SLT etc that this is simply a best guess until the exam board provide something more conclusive. The spreadsheet calculates grades for each separate component as well as an overall grade for the qualification. Furthermore, I’ve added a 6 mark buffer to account for grade boundary increases Any queries or clarification, or any faults with the spreadsheet, please contact me directly at steel123@hotmail.com and I will happily try to repair or resolve any problems. Happy with your purchase? Please leave a positive review so that this is promoted to others that may benefit!

Designed on Microsoft excel, this tracking document will help you keep track of the progress of your KS4 Media Studies students, with specific columns for section of each exam paper and for individual coursework marks. This NEW AND IMPROVED sheet will auto calculate total marks on each unit AS WELL AS ESTIMATED GRADES FOR EACH QUESTION - which will be converted into a 9-1 grade as well as totalling overall marks, which then feed into an overall grade prediction. The predictions have been calculated using last year's WJEC grade boundaries and the % of marks needed for each grade on each unit. This % mark has then been converted for the new weighting on the new spec. All you need to do is add the pupil information and the marks they have achieved for each question and the rest is done for you. Please be aware that these are not official grade boundaries and it is guess work at this stage. I have tried to make my predictions as reliable as possible by converting from old spec boundaries and converting % etc, but cannot guarantee that these will be the exact boundaries provided by the board. I have also created similar spreadsheets for AQA GCSE English 9-1, old spec AQA Media GCSE and Media A level too; check out my shop for these. A Level will too be added in due course - subscribe for notifications! For reference - I have mapped an old D grade to a new grade 3, a C to a 4, a B to a 5, an A to a 7 and an A* to an 8. Any problems with this or formula doing strange things, please contact me on steel123@hotmail.com

NEW AQA AS/A LEVEL MEDIA STUDIES TRACKING SHEET JUNE 2017 GRADE BOUNDARIES legacy spec

Like with the GCSE Media Studies tracker in my shop, this too is all you would need to accurately report grades for your post 16 media studies groups following the LEGACY AQA SPECIFICATION. There are three tabs included on this spreadsheet depending on the routes being taken by the students in your group: - Those resitting some AS modules alongside A2 modules. This allows input for all 4 units alongside existing results from Y12. Each unit is broken down into different areas for possible marks and each unit is also converted into an overall grade based on JUNE 2017 boundaries. - Those only completing A2 units this year. This allows input for unit 3 and 4 broken into each mark, alongside each students certified AS results. Calculations will be made totalling scores from the marks already achieved alongside the new units being completed as the year goes on. Overall A level grades are produced using this data. - Those students who are only entering for AS Media Studies legacy spec this year with the intention of dropping at the end of the year (otherwise you would be entering them for the NEW spec). Individual boxes are there to enter marks for each question/mark of each component and overall AS grades are calculated based on JUNE 2017 boundaries. On each tab there is also an additional column - the buffer. Here I have made the boundaries 10% tougher in case of a surprise grade boundary increase in June 2018. This could help identify those who are only just toughing each grade and who may benefit from a few more marks on their coursework or extra revision to ensure they are comfortably into each grade boundary and so avoids any nasty surprises on results day. I have used these trackers (alongside the ones produced for English) for several years with great success. Not only can you monitor the progress of you group, but they are invaluable when reporting at parents evening and students love to be able to see exactly where they have marks, what grade each unit is on and where they can gain more marks to achieve success. This tracking sheet really is a must for ALL media departments! If you do purchase and are happy with my work, please leave a positive review so others are more likely to come across this product in TES searches. If you experience any issues, please contact me at steel123@hotmail.com and I will happily try and resolve it. Likewise, similar trackers are available in my shop for GCSE AQA Media Studies and GCSE 9-1 AQA English Literature and Language. I am in the process of writing trackers for the new 9-1 Eduqas Media Studies as well as AQA English language, English Literature and English Lang and Lit A levels, so subscribe for updates for these subjects. Enjoy!

AQA GCSE Media Studies Single Award Legacy Spec Tracking document with JUNE 2017 GRADE BOUNDARIES

NEW AND IMPROVED This tracker was designed to enable the most accurate and effective data for your SINGLE AWARD GCSE AQA MEDIA STUDIES groups. Once the data for your group is imputed, the spreadsheet will convert the raw marks given into UMS marks (which vary year on year) and then into grades. Grades will be given for both units separately, as well as an overall grade based on the total marks awarded across the GCSE. NEW FOR SPRING - NOW ALL MARKS ARE CONVERTED TO GRADES FOR EACH PART OF THE COURSEWORK AS WELL; GET THAT INTERVENTION SORTED ASAP! All conversions are based on actual grade boundaries from the JUNE 2017 exam results. Please note - grade boundaries are always subject to change as we have found this year in particular and this should only be used as a guide for making accurate predictions. To ensure ultimate success, add a buffer mark on of around 10% higher than this year’s results as a worst case scenario grade.
