CP2a lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE.
Lesson includes a recap on vectors and scalars, different forces, naming forces acting on different objects, how to draw forces, calculating resultant forces and balanced/unbalanced forces.
CP2b lesson for the new Edexcel Science GCSE, looking at Newton's first law. The lesson includes some history on Newton, what the first law of motion is, why objects move and centripetal force (Higher only).
Revision lesson for CP4 and 5 in the new Edexcel Science GCSE (9-1).
The lesson uses Marvel characters for the basis of 15 questions, intended to be printed and placed around the room to get them moving around as they revise through answering the questions.
CP2f lesson for the new Edexcel science GCSE, looking at momentum.
The lesson includes what momentum is, how to calculate momentum, momentum and acceleration and momentum and collisions.
New Edexcel Science GCSE, CP2 topic looking at Crash Hazards. Lesson includes looking at causes of crashes, air bags, collisions, crumple zones and road features.
A lesson looking at Women in Science and the contributions they have made, hopefully inspiring young girls in Schools to consider a career in STEM fields.
Starter: Work out what all the pictures have in common (all discoveries made by women), match up the questions to the percentage answers.
Main:Task 1- complete the 'Women In Science Factfind' worksheet using the computers.
Task 2- Create a factfile about a particular woman in Science. 5 factfiles to go through as a class to give them an idea of what to include.
Plenary: Sharing in pairs information about their woman in Science, then presenting to the group interesting facts about their woman in Science.
Homework: Produce a poster or leaflet to persuade more women / girls to get into scientific fields of work.
The last slide has links to different organisation that work to get more women into scientific fields of work.
CP2c lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE, looking at mass and weight.
The lesson includes an investigation looking at mass and weight, the difference between mass and weight, what gravity is, how to calculate weight, rearranging the formula and forces on a falling object.
NEW ROUNDS ADDED FOR 2019 (and more to come)!
Christmas Quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term. There are 19 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do).
There is a combination of science specific rounds, loosely based science rounds and nothing to do with science rounds.
*NEW ROUNDS ADDED FOR 2017*
Christmas Quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term. There are 19 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do).
There are several science based rounds, as well as some generic Christmas and music rounds.
NEW ROUNDS ADDED FOR 2018 AND MORE TO BE ADDED SOON
End of Year quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term. There are 17 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do).
There are several science based rounds (including CB1-6 specific questions from the Edexcel combined science GCSE that I’m sure fits with other schemes), as well as some generic rounds.
A collection of 3 lessons looking at the Science of Superheroes and students designing their own superhero. Used with year 7 students, but could be used for the rest of KS3 and higher up KS2. All worksheets are included within the PowerPoint (as hidden slides, that just need printing off).
Lesson 1:
Starter-listing superheroes and thinking how we can group/classify them.
Activity- look at origins of powers, types of powers and features to think about in designing a costune. Introduce task of designing a superhero, start some rough planning work.
Plenary- thinking how magnetic powers might be useful in day to day life.
Lesson 2:
Starter- true or false activity about real life 'superpowers'.
Activity- designing superhero, thinking about powers and origin of powers.
Plenary- what does groot need to grow/survive.
Lesson 3:
Starter- peer assess each other work around the classroom using post it notes, then making some improvements.
Activity- A story/cartoon strip about an accident in the lab where their superhero is first on the scene.
Plenary- answer the questions before magneto pulls the objects to him (questions could be changed to cover topics done recently).
End of Year quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term. There are 11 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do).
There are several science based rounds, more loosely based science rounds as well as some generic rounds.
***More rounds will be added in the run up to the end of term.
