I am now a retired teacher having taught for over 40 years in the UK at secondary level. I wanted to share my love of Mathematics and teaching by providing a good set of resources which will more than cover all your needs for as many topics as I can and at good value for money. I am trying to cover many topics from foundation level GCSE up to grade 9 at higher level in a way that is interesting and relevant. I hope you like my style !

This is a set of questions which mixes the three forms of factorisation. Aimed at GCSE top level students - stretching the more able, this worksheet is not for your average Higher level students. I use this as a source of questions and occasionally a classwork for the best classes. The PDF consists of two questions each with 26 parts. Question 1 starts with a mixture of common factors, quadratics and the difference of two squares and then gets progressively harder - take out common factors followed by quadratics etc. Question 2 consists of 26 fractions where the numerator and the denominator will factorise by some method and then cancel down. It took a while to write this one so I hope it is of use to people. Answers are included

I wrote this for a foundation class that I had once - It covers everything that I wanted to emphasize at lower levels. I then found it very useful to use parts of it for Key stage 3 too Question one is looking at the basic ideas of indices - I did this as a mental exercise and stressed the powers of zero and one. Question two is a little more demanding and I often used this as a paired exercise and asked the students to check their answers on the calculators. Question three looks at the powers of a half, a third and negative one - nothing harder. Question four is all about the 3 rules of indices In total there are nearly 80 questions so this could take a full lesson, or a homework - I hope you find it useful. Homework sheets are included Answers are included.

I had fun with this one !!! About 60 questions in total !!! Question 1 consists of 26 parts each being a straight forward conversion of metric units. Question 2 has 10 parts all with the emphasis on the prefix - how many watts in a Kw etc - I always found this to be really useful Q3 - 24 are all worded problem involving the conversion of units. This is an excellent worksheet which can be used for Y6/7 all the way up to revising GCSE - a great set of questions. I wrote this sheet to meet the needs of GCSE Foundation level students - keeping the formula quite basic. It is ideal for the introduction of rearrangements in earlier years too. The sheet begins with 5 questions which show ‘why’ we need to rearrange. This is followed by 26 questions involving one x and one y and numbers - using as many everyday functions in as many ways as i could. Finally a further 26 questions where we introduce a and b as constants too - this often muddies the waters for Foundation students and I always found I had insufficient questions to offer them. This is a thorough worksheet as a pdf of two pages covering everything you will need from introduction to GCSE foundation level. This is a PDF consisting of mixed arithmetic questions using fractions. Question 1 consists 24 parts, 6 additions, 6 subtractions, 6 multiplications and 6 divisions all mixed up. This question involves fractions only. Question 2 is the same as question 1 but using mixed and whole numbers. No answers are provided on this one as students need to be able to check their work on a calculator.

The fist 26 questions are already factorised and simply require the final step to achieve the solutions. The second 26 questions need to be factorised first but are limited to the case of a=1. The third 26 questions need to be rearranged or expanded and then rearranged before factorisation. Answers are included and have been checked independently. A very underrated topic in most text books - this PDF covers all that you will need to teach / learn the small angle approximations at ‘A’ level. I have approached the topic from various angles to ensure a lot of variability in the style of question and it’s focus - i have not combined it with any other expansions though. I have finished it off with a couple of questions involving the Sine rule and Cosine rule which are a little bit more challenging. Answers are included. I used to use this in year 10 with foundation level students so there are a couple of harder questions involved but these can be ignored if you wish to use this at KS2, or KS3. This is a PDF over two pages consisting of 6 questions on stem and leaf diagrams. I have one question requiring the drawing of a diagram - the other five are in taking values from a given diagram. The work is primarily aimed at GCSE - not a basic introduction at Key Stage 3. I have included: decimal leaves as well as whole number back to back S&L diagrams Mean, Mode, Median and quartile are required in some questions.
