Pack of Measurement Worksheet Activities - Y1

(0)
I used these worksheets when teaching measurement in Y1. The worksheets cover the use of mathematical language to do with measurement, what equipment should be used when measuring different things and measuring lengths, heights, capacity, volume, weight and mass. Our theme was 'sea side', so we finished the unit with a bag of fish and chips which we measured before eating! :-)

Bean Plant Diary! - Year One

(0)
I used this Bean Plant Diary with my Y1 class when focussing on these objectives in science: - I communicate my findings by talking about my work and through drawings and charts. - I use my knowledge to recognize, identify and describe a range of common plants, animals and natural events. - I name and describe external parts or features of plants, humans and other animals, such as size of leaf or coat colour.

Willy Wonka Newspaper Report and Worksheets to support Literacy Lessons in Y1

(0)
I used this newspaper report and worksheets when focussing on newspaper reports in literacy. Our theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The report has lots of words with ‘ly’ endings and this was something we needed to focus on as a class. - Newspaper report - Who, What, Where, Why, When? Worksheet - Newspaper report write up - Newspaper report planning sheet

Guided Reading and Fine Motor Planning for Reception

(0)
I use this planning to support my daily ‘guided reading’ sessions for my reception class. I used this planning in Autumn Term 2, so I have focused on reading, communication and language and physical development objectives (taken from Development Matters). I split the objectives into three groups to suit my class, but the table can be edited to suit a different cohort. Objectives and ELGs can also be added throughout the year. I will also add some of my tricky word and spelling practise resources to my TES shop soon. :-) Please note - the TES preview looks a little different, see my picture preview for how it will look when you download.

A Forest School Risk Assessment I have made for my school including a safety sweep template. The risk assessments may need editing to suit your school. *The font looks different in the preview meaning some of the pages look distorted - when you download it will be in comic sans and should all flow much better. :-)

New Starters Gift Pack - Reception Children

(0)
I have created these packs for the children starting school in September to have over the summer. Please see the cover image for the finished result. The packs I made include: A letter outlining what is in the pack (I stuck these on the front of the bags) a Summer Challenge for the children to do over the summer (working on fine motor skills, fastening buttons, sharing stories etc) a pack which has a poem about our school routine (you can adapt!), space for pictures of the school and staff a small letter for the parents which can be included in a gift given to open on their child’s first day of school (my gift included a mini chocolate bar, tissues and tea bags and I wrote on the front 'dear parents of… please do not open until Tuesday 4th September) a small letter to be included with a little pot of play dough (for children to work on their fine motor skills and pencil grip over the summer) To go with these resources, I bought some paper bags, brown envelopes (for the parent gift), play dough pots, chocolate bars, tea bags and tissue packs. These can be sourced pretty cheap on amazon. The TES preview shows my work in a different font - it is actually saved in comic sans. I use pre cursive font in my class, but I know that not everyone does! :-)
Year Book - End of Year Transition Activity

Year Book - End of Year Transition Activity

(0)
Great as a transition activity and ‘end of year’ gift! - Can be edited to suit all primary year groups I made this book for my class to complete during the last few weeks of reception and then take home as part of their leaving gift. It’s a fun way of noting how they feel about completing their first year of school, talking about transition and some good memories. Parents loved it when their children brought this home! It was also a great way of getting some more writing evidence. Inside there are questions such as: How did your family feel on your first day of school? What would you like to learn in Year One? What do you like doing best at school? and lots more! There are spaces for you to stick photos of the children onto and to add a school logo. Please note - the TES preview sometimes looks a little different, take a look at the image preview that I have added for how it will look when you download (some borders have been cut out, but hopefully you get the idea! :-D)

Pirates and Mermaids Class Assembly/Show - Suitable for KS1

(0)
My reception class had to do a class assembly in line with our theme - pirates and mermaids. I wrote a script all about a pirate treasure hunt and what 'treasure' really is - we should treasure friendship more than jewels and gold. 7 pirates go on a quest to find a treasure chest which happens to be in Ibiza! In Ibiza, they meet some Spanish pirates who have the Jolly Rodger flag on their ship. The pirates all work together to look for the treasure and come across some sea creatures and mermaids. The mermaids offer the pirates a treasure full of gold or something special that would bring them all together as friends. The pirates choose the special chest which has our class pet inside! A lot of hard work went into this assembly script and presentation and I hope that someone else can enjoy it! This pack contains: * the full script and costume ideas * a PowerPoint presentation with animation and music - all set up to play. Faces of the children can be added to animated pirate bandanas and mermaid tails (as seen in cover image) * music to run along side (although this music is already loaded onto the PowerPoint) * Letters home to parents to request costumes and attendance to the show

Reception/Year 1 - Independent Activities Bundle! Over 50 worksheets!

(0)
OVER 50 WORKSHEETS! A bundle of worksheet activities I leave out for the children to choose throughout the year, alongside practical tasks. Later in the year they get a reward if they complete a certain amount of worksheets/practical activities during their independent time. These activities that I have uploaded are mainly english and maths based, but there are few other topics coverered too. Some of the documents have a few activities on them (I have named them ‘random pack’) and others are just one activity. Some packs have poster (to display in the area/give instructions) to go alongside the worksheet too. Overall there are over 50 worksheets. *please note: in the random packs, sometimes the activities are in the wrong order, but it’s pretty self explanatory which sheet comes before the other - eg: with a cut and stick, some times the things to cut are displayed on the sheet before the sheet to stick onto!
Keyword Keyring Resources and Phonics, Tricky and High Frequency Words Assessment Booklet!

Keyword Keyring Resources and Phonics, Tricky and High Frequency Words Assessment Booklet!

(0)
Phonics and Keyword Assessment Process and ‘Keyword Keyring’ Resources! Brief Outline and Instructions Below - FULL Outline and Instructions Included In This Pack! This year, we have tried out a new system to assess phonics and key words (tricky and high frequency) with our reception class. Alongside this, we have also introduced a new way for the children to learn their tricky and high frequency words using a Keyword Keyring and other resources. What we are doing may not fit your school/expectations exactly, but it is something that has worked really well for us so I thought I’d share it on TES as it can be edited to suit you and your class. :-) We have printed an assessment booklet for each child in our class to track their confidence with graphemes, decodable words and tricky words within each phonics phase. We do lots of phonics/keyword practise at school, but have set up a new system to motivate the children to learn their high frequency, tricky and some decodable words at home too. Using the resources in this pack, you can print, cut and laminate the words to create a display and a keyring! I have also included sheets which I send home to children/parents as an ongoing ‘homework’. There is a sheet for each phonics phase which I print and laminate. Once the children know all of the words on that sheet, they get the next sheet along with signed certificate for completing the set that they were working on. We really celebrate when a phase is complete and the children and parents have responded really well to this! When the children know ALL of the words on the Keyword Keyring, they are presented with a special certificate and keyring reward in assembly. Resources/shopping links that I used to create these are in this pack! *(We try and use the assessment booklet every week – although this can sometimes be hard with 30 children and 1 Teacher and TA!) I hope that this all makes sense - this is a very brief version as to what is included in the pack! The download includes instructions with pictures etc. It may not be perfect, but it has worked SO well for us this year – I hope that it can work for you too. A lot of hard work went into making all of this and even more work is needed for the laminating and keyring making, but I honestly believe that it is worth it. Thanks! 16 Files Included: Phonics, tricky and high frequency word assessment booklet (links to the keyword keyring resources) Phase 2 (LION) keywords to be used as display and for keyrings Phase 2 (LION) keyword ongoing ‘homework’ sheet to be sent home Phase 2 (LION) keyword keyring certificate Phase 3 (MONKEY) keywords to be used as display and for keyrings Phase 3 (MONKEY) keyword ongoing ‘homework’ sheet to be sent home Phase 3 (MONKEY) keyword keyring certificate Phase 4 (PENGUIN) keywords to be used as display and for keyrings Phase 4 (PENGUIN) keyword ongoing ‘homework’ sheet to be sent home Phase 4 (PE) keyword keyring certificate
