These mini-maths activities are quick 5-10 minute questions to be completed before a maths lesson. They recap previous learning often following the concepts been taught through White Rose Maths. These sheets have a focus on addition and subtraction and place value.

Year 1 and 2 unit on poetry based on the popular book, Commotion in the Ocean. My class have loved this poetry unit and it linked into their topic work of Under the Sea.

This activity is based on the concept of doing 2 or 4 daily arithmetic questions. The questions are based on examples from the SATS paper and the structure it uses. Each week is a different theme and there are varied questions each day. For autumn the questions are based on number, addition, subtraction and multiplication. Where there are two questions per day children can show their workings out if needed. Question 4 is normally an obscure question that makes the children fully apply their knowledge. There are 15 weeks in total but week one is 3 days so that you have time to explain the concept to the children. The documents come in word and PDF.

I made these resources to help my class with the arithmetic element of the SATS paper. Every morning when they come in they complete the task for that day. It has been a huge success! The sheets are in our schools default font but I have converted them to a PDF for ease of use. These questions are a combination of all the expected SATs questions. Some of the questions towards the end weeks are based on reasoning questions.

A unit of work that I created to support work on Grandads Island (our literacy unit) science, topic, DT. The children enjoyed this unit and had fun making weather equipment and salads!

I was finding that my children were struggling with the concept of the phonics booklets for the year 1 test. I therefore created a set of 8 booklets for the children to use as practice for the real thing! They have loved the booklets and enjoyed challenging themselves as there are some tricky words in there. I have also included in some of them year 1 common exception words.

A great book to use which helps children understand time and number. A total of 15 lesson with accompanying activities and posters to help. The children loved the book especially as we read a page a day!

My class developed a love of Winnie the Witch and so I created these plans to fuel their learning. They loved every moment of this topic and we were able to include the use of imperative verbs into our learning. The children loved the idea of creating their own spells and potions. Year 1 class written for but can be used in reception or year 2. Great ideas can be linked to forest school experiences too!

This is a ten day plan for the book The Bear and the Piano. My class really enjoyed the book and I got fantastic writing results. Included in the resource are my plans, worksheets and presentations.
