A simple but longer piece of text describing a Christmas scene. Revision of prepositions, adjectives, verbs, animals and Christmas vocabulary. French Christmas Sentence Builders
This is a very engaging & fun activity that revises Christmas vocab. verbs, question words, opinions é the weather. Students are given the the muddled sentences. (The unscrambled sentences is a teacher copy.) Students cut out the words é unscramble them to form a sentence that makes sense. They stick the sentence onto the worksheet and underneath translate the sentence into English. Those students who are able, can answer those sentences which are questions. In French, bien sûr. Two pictures to discuss and find the differences on a Christmas theme. Practises Christmas vocabulary, animals, weather, numbers, negatives, prepositions and the expression 'il y a&'. An enjoyable way for children to talk about what they see in the two pictures and for them to be able to compare the differences. Ours Brun, dis-moi... French matching card game
A matching card game of the classic story 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?&'. A great way to introduce colour and names of animals in French, but could be used for any foreign language. A gap-fill exercise to practice recognising verbs. I thought this would be a fun activity for my 10/11 years olds who are just starting to learn verbs. It proved to be a huge success. They loved it. They found the translations so funny that and by the end of the class they knew all French 10 idioms off by heart. They went away from the class saying that they wanted to research more French idioms and offered to do it for homework!! Wow!! I wonder what they will come up? A matching pairs game for practicing names of colours in French/German/Spanish/Italian. Children have to turn two cards up of the same colour to win the pair. KS2 / KS3 French - Animals Board Game
A fun way to practise the names of animals in French. However could in fact be used for any language. An extension to simply naming the animals, could be to practise the phrase J'ai un chat, J&'ai une souris etc.. Colours could also be mentioned or even the size of the animal. French - Animal Lotto
Playing lotto is a fun way to practise and reinforce the names of animals in French. Could also be used in early years and for any foreign language. I split my children into small groups and they each take turn at being the 'teacher&'. They love calling out &';Qui a un chat?' &'Qui a une vache?&'; To win the card the reply is 'J&'ai un chat&';, 'J&'ai une vache&';.
