Each of the 10 activities covers a different aspect of this topic and requires your students to recall facts, concept or events from memory.
These activities could be used throughout the term/ year or as revision lessons / intervention sessions and will be particularly useful in view of the Speaking exam.

There are 3 practices for each Topic:
Practice 1: Prepare the Role-Play. Fill in the gaps to complete the candidate’s script. (This is an intermediate practice to help students build up their Role-Play skills).
Practice 2: Prepare the Role-Play by responding to the 5 tasks. Students need to give one detail per task and can use the present tense throughout.
Practice 3: Prepare the Role-Play by responding to the 5 tasks. Students need to give two details for 3 of the tasks and may have to use a range of tenses.

As there are quite a lot of overlaps with the old spec for this topic, this Knowledge Organiser is very similar to the one available for the 2016 spec. Unfortunately, this resource is not available as an upgrade and you may therefore decide to use/ modify the old version instead of buying this new one.
In this digital product: You will find a Listening assessment and a Reading assessment for Topic 1: Identity and Relationships with others (GCSE-first exam in 2026).
The assessments are designed to be completed during a 60 minutes lesson (the Listening is 20 minutes and the Reading is 30 minutes).
The assessments are designed for mixed ability classes and include a variety of Foundation, overlap and Higher questions. They include a range of exam-style questions .
The font size used on the question papers is 14, which should be big enough for you to print as an A5 booklet, should you wish to save on paper.
Listening assessment:
The question paper is 6 pages long (including the cover page with instructions). There are two sections: Listening comprehension and dictation- the total mark is 30.
The audio file includes all the questions with built-in pauses. The duration of the audio file is 15 minutes and does not include the reading time at the start and the end of the assessment. The transcript and mark schemes are provided.
Note:
To make the paper more proportionate, there are only 3 sentences in the dictation, including 1 word outside of the prescribed list.
The comprehension section includes 4 words which are not on the prescribed list (mignonne, généreuse, sévère and humour). However, these words will not prevent students from answering correctly.
Reading assessment:
The question paper is 8 pages long (including the cover page with instructions).
There are two sections: Reading comprehension and translation into English. - the total mark is 30. The mark scheme is included.
Note
To make the paper more proportionate, the translation is marked out of 5.
