“Colour My Home” is a fun colouring resource designed to help children (and English Language learners) learn about familiar objects found in a typical home and associated vocabulary.
This resource is structured into 10 pages, each showcasing 6 different colour objects typically found around the house.
Each page features a colour image of the objects alongside a corresponding black-and-white outline for colouring and matching.
Cards can be cut out and sorted in different ways e.g. by rooms, colour, inside or outside the house, furniture, electrical items and many more.

There are 12 cards to choose from.
The aim of the game is for children to choose a letter of the alphabet for their chosen card and then answer the questions verbally or written e.g. the blue card catergories are hospital, family, cafe, chemist, winter and summer. If a child chooses the letter C, then answers could be: cousin for family; coffee for cafe; cough medicine for chemist, cold for winter and cool for summer.
Each of the 12 cards has 6 different categories on them.
The game could be carried out with a timer or a bell ring to signify the end.

Brighten up your classroom displays with these Colours Display Cards.
There is a landscape full page poster showing the word Colours.
Next there are 4 pages each showing 4 different colours e.g. blue, green, red and yellow and indigo, rose, beige and gold.
Cut out and laminate the cards and use in your teaching of colour such as colour sorting and for your displays.
The final page is a template with the colour pencils border for children to use for writing or drawing.
Use these spelling certificates to motivate and reward your children for their read, write and spelling work.
Each of the 10 certificates is the same but a different colour.

8 activity sheets with a cross curriuclar Clothes theme.
On each page there is a different sort of clothing, footwear or accessory. Each of the pictures on each page are numbered to 12.
Children discuss the clothing and look at detail and function.
They then use the writing area of the sheet to write key words associated with the items that describe them and / or write a sentence for each.
Items include: hats, trousers and shorts, shoes, socks, jackets and coats.
Links with literacy, writing and speaking and listening.
Extend by asking children to describe an item of clothing and the class can say what it is from the description.

Differentiate by giving the children the answers, mixed up, and ask them to match to the pictures.
A great little back to school quiz or anytime game encouraging team work, speaking and listening and vocabulary extension.
Examples of pictures/sayings are ‘the hungry caterpillar’ and ‘the cat in the hat’.
What to do
Show the colour page with 28 pictures on.
Children work in pairs or teams to try to work out the common sayings or idioms.
Give them the grid template provided to write their answers on.
Sheet 3 is the answer sheet, although children may come up with plausible alternative answers of their own.
Another way of doing the quiz, is to give the children the answers, but in a mixed up form, and ask them to match them to the pictures.
Children can go on to research any saying they do not know such as ‘pigs might fly’ or the’ elephant in the room’.
This is a good resource too, for English language learners.

E.g. The children were having a quarrel.
The children quarrelled this morning.

Cut out some of the picture symbols and paste into your workbook. Write 2 sentences next to each one.
E.G. Opening window picture symbol
I open my window in the summer.
Dad opened my window this morning.
Choose 5 cards and work in pairs to make up a verbal or written story. Share with the group or class.

A fun way to end or start the term.
The game is based on Catch Phrase where children guess what the popular phrase or word is based on the pictures they see.
This involves thinking and speaking and listening.
Children enjoy this game in groups.
There are 35 picture cards which can be cut up and laminated(for reuse) or pages can be used as they are with 4 cards to a page.
There is a suggested answer sheet at the end, that children or the teacher, can use to mark off answers. (Some pictures could have an equally feasible alternate catch phrase or word).
As a follow up, children could make up their own pictures based on familiar sayings or those on a theme such as football or animals.
