Analysis, activities and an exam question based on the poem for GCSE AQA English Literature.

A range of lessons (originally aimed at lower ability GCSE students) on some of the themes in Blood Brothers: social class, childhood and growing up, women, motherhood and motifs. This was planned in conjunction with AQA GCSE English Literature be can be adaptable for any year group or study of the play.

Between 3-4 detailed lessons based on Eduqas GCSE media studies; an introduction to advertising and marketing and the set product Quality Street. A full scheme of work of between 5-7 lessons on Tide for Component 1 Section A and B of the Eduqas A Level Media exam. Lesson cover: media language, representations, audience and look at and break down relevant theories (Van Zoonen, Gerbner, Stuart Hall, David Gauntlett). Also included is an assessment which is a comparison exam question (similar to SAMS so this mark scheme can be used) comparing Tide with a 1950s Quality Street advert.

This exam question, which is similar to the SAMS question (so this mark scheme can be used), compares the set product Tide with a 1950s Quality Street advert (taken from the Eduqas GCSE set products).

AN UPDATED SOW on Formation for Component 1 Section A Eduqas A Level Media Studies. This is a more refined scheme with detailed and comprehensive lessons which are intended to be taught over a number of weeks. All elements of the theoretical framework are covered: media language, genre, representations, technical codes, theory, contexts.

A full scheme of work of approx. 5 lessons on Component 1 Section B for Eduqas GCSE Media. These lessons cover all areas of the framework and exam questions which are NOT SAMS - one is from an Eduqas sample paper and the other is of my own design (the SAMS mark scheme can be used for this one) there is also a lesson which explores how to approach the ‘stepped’ questions in section B and gives advice on timing and command words. Also makes use of the Eduqas GCSE textbook.

A range of lessons for Eduqas GCSE Media Studies on MUSIC VIDEOS for Paper 2 Section B covering Taylor Swift ‘Bad Blood’ Lessons explore: media language, narrative, representations, intertextuality and contexts. Media theory is also explored in some lessons. Some lessons make use to the Eduqas textbook.

A full scheme of work for Eduqas GCSE Media Studies on TV Crime Drama, Luther and The Sweeney. This covers all aspects of the specification, a range of theories, includes practice exam questions, and makes use to the Eduqas textbook and other TV crime dramas which can be adapted to the teachers choice.

A complete lesson focusing on how to successfully answer Q2a on Paper one of EDUQAS GCSE MEDIA. This lesson mainly focuses on Quality Street and explores relevant historical context, but also includes an example answer (from a student) based on This Girl Can. The lesson can be easily adapted to focus on any of the set products for Paper 1 Section A.

Approx 6/7 lessons on the set magazine products for Component 2 Section B of A Level Media: codes and conventions, context, media language and representations. These lessons make use of the Eduqas resources and the textbooks. The Eduqas past and SAMS mark schemes can be adapted and used to mark the exam questions included in certain lessons. A HOME LEARNING project on Pride and GQ Magazines for students taking GCSE Media in 2021 - created for the Codiv-19 school closure. This covers most of the specification and includes around 20 tasks on things such as: research, annotation and analysis, application of theories (previously taught), exam style questions. I created this for a class who have not done any work on magazines so far is is ‘new content’ for them, this could however also be suitable for students with some previous learning on magazines.

A range of lessons focusing on: newspaper backgrounds and contexts, media language, representations, theories and exam style questions. This covers all of the Section A specification, makes some use of the Eduqas textbook and resources from the Eduqas website like the Factsheets on newspapers.
