11+ Year 4 Foundation Course
Starting 11+ prep early can be overwhelming, especially when trying to find resources that are just the right level. As an experienced 11+ tutor, I’ve seen many Year 4 students struggle to find material that challenges them appropriately without being too difficult. That’s why I created this Year 4 Foundation Course, designed specifically to address this gap.
This comprehensive and structured plan offers a well-rounded approach, covering all essential topics to build a solid foundation in preparation for the real 11+ exams. The course focuses on key areas such as mental maths, vocabulary development, spelling, and essential skills, ensuring your child gains the confidence and ability they need to succeed.
Traditional in-person tuition can be costly, so this plan provides the same high-quality instruction at a more affordable price, with all the essential elements covered.
By the end of this course, your child will have a strong foundation, well-prepared for the more advanced stages of 11+ prep.

11 Plus English Core Skills
11 Plus Foundation Course
11 Plus Summer Intensive Course
Year 4 should be the least stressful part of the 11 Plus journey, in fact the student should only be spending 120 minutes maximum every week of doing work. Gradually the time spent on revision should increase, however it shouldn’t be labelled as a ‘chore’, make the transition as smooth as possible.
In English it is important to keep on revisiting terms: grammar, punctuation, etc… It’s very easy to get quickly out of tune with SPaG. To have good creative writing skills, being able to tackle comprehension questions, verbal reasoning and more, you need to have the ‘English core skills’
Before advancing to formal English tests, it’s vital that the pupil has the knowledge and skills of basic English for the 11 Plus. English core skills is aimed to cover these topics so that the pupil can feel confident to move onto assessments. Note that this is ‘stage one’ of the foundation, so in the next stages the pupils will be introduced to ‘short’ and ‘long’ English tests. They will be prepared for this as they have gathered the skills from this book
