Science Teacher and Marathon Runner! I graduated top of my class from the University of Limerick (BSc with concurrent teacher education) in 2015 and having taught in the Irish and UK system I have a in depth appreciation for curriculum. I currently teach Biology and Chemistry at A-Level and GCSE science in London. I am passionate about science and thoroughly enjoy creating resources, please feel free to review my resources.

Diffusion and Osmosis Investigation

(0)
Required practical: The classic potato cores practical using ribena to emphasize concentration and the procedure of serial dilution. Student investigation sheet and follow up questions included (mark scheme and instructions outlined in the slides) Agar cube and neutralisation practical: to investigate the effect of surface area to volume ratio on the rate of diffusion. A good investigation that can be adapted to suppliment the teaching of diffusion with all key stage groups.

4 Resources
Exothermic and Endothermic as per AQA specication (Combined science/GCSE Chemistry). Full set of slides, spaced practice and opportunity for self/peer assessment. Slides and worksheet can be easily adapted to suit other lessons/revision activities. Measuring temperature change - AQA Combined science and GCSE Chemistry Chemical Changes. Series of practical activities and associated questions that can be adapted for a range of abilities. Simulation practical Foundation style practical Higher level practical and use of graph and LOBF to determine temperature change for endothermic and exothermic Reaction Profiles - slides and activities that gets students to think about the change of energy in a reaction, practise drawing reaction profiles, calculating the difference in energy between reactants and products. The use of cataysts and their effect on activation energy is also elicited here. Associated worksheets are included. This resource is geared towards AQA combined science and GCSE chemistry but can be easily adapted. Bond energy - eliciting prior knowledge of latent heat and introducing the concept of energies associated with bond breaking and bond forming. This is a complete lesson as per AQA combined science and GCSE Chemsitry specifications on Energy Changes. The worked examples and questions used here can be easily adapted. This resource also includes a mini teacher assessment.
