This product was designed for students to practise their fine motor skills and prepare them for writing.
It has been created with a summer theme, where a summer character needs to reach a desired item. The student then uses their crayon to follow the path until they reach the item.
For extra practice, we first use a non-writing tool to follow the path before using a crayon.
This product is in colour and black line. A front cover has also been included to create a little booklet. I would suggest laminating the colour version in order to make it reusable. Students can then use a dry erase marker to follow the paths. A key ring can be used to group them together into a fun centre activity.
You can read how we use ours here.

These Beginning Digraph clip cards can be used to practise words with Beginning Digraph (ch- , sh-, th-) sounds and is the perfect center activity. Place a dot behind the correct answer in order to make these cards self-correcting. Laminating the cards will make them more durable and therefore will last longer.
This set is provided in color and black and white (which can be copied onto colored paper if desired). These cards can be even be used for upper elementary as spelling practise. There are also some blank cards for extra pictures. A list of the words is also included, which students can paste into their workbooks and use as a reference.
Students can use a clothes peg to identify which spelling is used to create the long a sound in each picture. If clothes pegs are not available, students can write with a white board marker on the laminated cards. Holes can also be punched into the cards below each letter. Students can then thread a straw or string through the corresponding hole.

Use these Lily pads to practise CVC fluency.
Print the lily pads onto green paper (or any color you choose). Pin the ‘-at’ to a frog stuffed toy. If you don’t have a frog stuffed toy, print the frog included at the end of this product and ‘stick’ the ‘-at’ to it. All five short vowel sounds have been included in this product.
Lay the lily pads on the table and students take turns springing from one ‘–at’ lily pad to the next, reading the words as they go. They can then record the ‘-at’ words on a white board should you wish to practice their writing as well as reading. Pin a new sound combination to your frog once your students have grasped –at. Students at different tables can also be practising different sounds and then move from table to table.

Alphabet Sort
Use these little Raccoon families to practise the alphabet, initial sounds and word recognition.
How to use this product:
Help Daddy Raccoon to reunite with his family. You can select the level you wish your students to complete this activity. Matching Daddy Raccoon with Mommy Raccoon will practice Upper and Lower case. Bring in the older brother and sister to practice initial sounds and then finally include younger brother to bring in word recognition.
By printing these on larger pages, these would make a beautiful Alphabet chart with a twist.
A worksheet has also been included where students can record the families and practice their formation of the letters and words. Page two of the worksheet can be printed a number of times and a little book can be constructed with all of the letters.

Identifying Alphabet Sounds
This is a set of ‘identification of alphabet sound’ cards. Each card contains pictures which begin with the featured letter as well as pictures which don’t. Students need to identify the pictures beginning with the featured letter and circle them.
I have included a set of colored cards which can be laminated and used in a literacy center as well as a set of black and white printables. These can be used for class work or homework consolidation.
Simple, colorful pictures have been used to appeal to younger students. A subtle spring theme makes this resource perfect for this time of year, but can also be used at other times as well.
I trust your children will enjoy this activity and that it will be beneficial.

Alphabet Foreground and Background coloring pages
Use this Alphabet Visual Foreground and background activity to reinforce both. A US and UK version of this product is included in the download.
The development of Visual Foreground and Background is important in students as it allows them to differentiate between items on a page and later on words in a sentence and on a page. Without the ability to do so, images and words blend into one another and the student is unable to distinguish the difference.
Students need to color the letter and its corresponding picture. They then also practise their fine motor further by writing over the dotted letters to form the word of the picture they are colouring.

CVC Sentence Reading Cards
This set of 96 task cards is the perfect activity for children who are ready to read their CVC words in sentences.
Students read each of the two sentences on the card and indicate which sentence is true by placing a mark in the correct box on the right hand side of the card (use a dry wipe marker on a laminated card to make them reusable) , or by placing a peg to indicate the correct option.
This set has been divided into four sections. The sections have been determined by the sight words used in each group. Below you can see which sight words are used in each section (words are :
Orange: the, on, it, is, in, red, I, a, and, am.
Green: like, and, to, for, has, go, see, blue, he, she.
Blue: then, them, will, with , put, at, one.
Yellow, my, by, come, this, look, you, up, two.
I would recommend starting with the orange section and moving to the green, then blue and finally yellow as progression takes place and sight words from the orange section may be present in all the sections.
I trust your children will enjoy this activity. Should you have any queries or suggestion, please contact me at margauxlangenhoven@gmail.com
