This lesson can be used with S1-S6. It allows pupils to explore what European Languages week is all about, furthermore touches on the importance of Eurovision and what eurovision is. Starter activity: Match the Countries to the flags - countdown sound effect.
Activity 1: Share learning Intentions
Activity 3: Get pupils to work with the person next to them to think why it is improtant to learn a second language? Write ideas on the board as pupils shout out answers.
Activity 4: Share with them why learning a language is improtant - from the posters found online - great resources : Boardworks, Tun and the European Council.
Activity 5: Listen to the following celebrities speak another language - how many languages do they speak and what are these languages?
Activity 6: Use the book called ‘Lara’s language journey across europe’ - you can download this for free. Print of some of the pages and hang them around the classroom. Pupils can then scan the barcode and learn a few new words in numerous of languages - feedback to the class
Activity 7: SCAN the QR code and do the quiz- where am I?
Activity 8: Eurovision? what is eurovision, why does it exist?
Activity 9: IT IS EUROVISION TIME!
Listen to a variety of songs over the years get pupils to write down the country and give their opinions in the target language
Get pupils to vote using the mentimetre - scan the code and give 12 points to their favourite contestant
Activity 10: Create a poster/ powerpoint slide as to why Eurovision should be held in Glasgow in 2023.
This lesson gives pupils an understanding of what is included in the writing exam.
It covers bullet points 1&2 and gives pupils examples of good and bad examples. It also includes a Vocabulary booklet, that pupils can use to aid them with their writing.
This lesson is designed to atract S1/S2 pupils. It is very basic, just introducing key members vocabulary and sentence stricture to say how many siblings you have. My S1/S2’s really enjoyed this lesson, they found it fun and easy to follow along.
Introduce family members through encanto
Quick game of hangman to consolidate basic family members vocabulary
SONG TIME! sing the song, using the karoke link with your pupils. Give your loud and well behaved pupils an encanto character that they need to hold up and shout the name in Bold when the next slide comes up. Create actions to go with the song!
Move on to say how many people are your family - en mi familia hay… personas. (very simple)

I got the photos from google, and included my own bitmoji through the app. The sound effects are simply something I downloaded - very easy to use. You can copy and paste this onto any other powerpoints you have!
