A range of concrete activites for students to explore the relationship between the size of particles or parts and the total surface area. Concept is important in explaining the function of alveoli in the lungs, villi in the intestine, particle size in reaction rate and catalysis. The States of Matter worksheets are for different abilities and the keyword fill may be used as a preparatory sheet for students to find the keywords, or simply as an annotation sheet used in conjunction with the presentation.
