Useful for Senior Leadership Links and Heads of Department/ Faculty/ Key Stage. My department recently had a very positive experience in an Ofsted Deep Dive. I have attached some useful materials to help other Heads of Department to support the process and to support their teams in what could be (but doesn’t need to be) a stressful experience. Firstly it is important to know- this is not a quick fix- you cannot pull the wool over their eyes if your department has a lot of work to do. Lesson for Edexcel Politics ALevel Introduction and Overview to Feminism lessons- this is a double lesson plus note making for homework on Feminism and its development over time. Begins with looking at issues facing women in the 21st century e.g. female genital mutilation, rape and sexual assault, gender pay gap, violence against women and girls etc- students discuss and swap articles and then the lesson develops from there. Introduces some of the key thinkers e.g. Perkins-Gillman, Wollstonecraft and Friedan as well as Bell Hooks.

OCR Alevel 2022 Exam Paper detailed mock feedback powerpoint. This took me 4-5 hours to put together so should save you lots of time! Based on common misconceptions/ errors and mistakes. Can be adapted for other questions/ papers. Questions covered were: 10 marker : Causes of 1905 Revolution 20 marker: Causes of October/ November Revolution AND 10 marker: Causes of Feb/ March Revolution 20 marker: Stalin and control- propaganda vs other factors.

OCR Russia 1894-1941 Lesson the Russo-Japanese War Looking at Causes, Reasons for Defeat and Impact on Nicholas, part of the mini unit of work: Causes of 1905 Revolution. Ideally you have access to the chapter from “A People’s Tragedy” Orlando Figes Chaper “First Blood” which I cannot include for Copyright reasons but if not, you can still use the worksheet in combination with the slides or the textbook for the students to do Causes, Reasons for defeat and consequences.

This quiz took about 10 hours of my life (that I will never get back!) to make but the students loved it- just the right balance of inappropriate to be funny but still all related to the Tudor Court, rebellions and key individuals. It is mainly a music quiz with some of the rebels, Tudor characters and noblemen being represented in song lyrics…in other cases the rebellions are represented by the song. There is a round on Tudor swear words and other random trivia. Answer sheet attached- slides plus answer sheet should be self explanatory but if you need anything explaining further email me- lasts about an hour and a half including marking and going through answers- I don’t play the whole songs- just the relevant extracts.

Lesson for OCR ALevel spec Russia 1894-1941 but useful for any other spec involving Russian revolution- can also be simplified for GCSE. This lesson is designed to reflect on Nicholas’ problems and explain the growth of opposition against the Tsar in Russia prior to the 1905 revolution. Looking at the long term impact of Alexander IIs reforms such as the creation of Zemstvo and Emancipation of Serfs and the political spectrum. Lesson designed to take 2 hours plus homework- the Marxism stuff takes a lot of explaining!

OCR ALevel lesson for Russia 1894-1941 Examines the role and aims of Stolypin as well as detailed information on his policies, methods and the impact of his actions on Russia. Fully resourced lesson with very detailed information and evidence, a range of tasks- card sort, video, evaluation table, report card, sources etc. Includes 10 mark exam question for OCR about the relative significance of Witte and Stolypin in bringing stability to Russia.

OCR ALevel History Russia 1894-1941 Topic 2: Towards a Constitutional Monarchy. This two hour lesson examines the creation of the Duma from the October Manifesto and the limits of the Fundamental laws. Also examines the challenges of the Duma and the makeup of them and why Nicholas dissolved them each time. Includes detailed information and all resources needed if you do not have textbook pages from Corin and Fiehn- I have typed up all necessary info onto documents to accompany the lesson.
