This lesson has been created with KS3 secondary history students in mind and is the second lesson in my Holocaust unit of work.
This lesson has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint and the accompanying student worksheets have been created on Microsoft Word and Powerpoint . Teacher Notes & Answers have been added to the notes section underneath each relevant slide on the Powerpoint. Please check these before delivering the lesson to your student. They offer excellent source analysis support for teachers new to the topic.
This resource is Lesson 2 in my Holocaust scheme of work. It’s aim is to explore the ways in which the Nazi’s used propaganda and stereotyping to humiliate and discredit the Jewish race in German society. This is to help students begin to understand how the Nazis then were able to turn society against the Jewish people and other minority groups which then paved the way towards Holocaust and eventual mass murder.
This lesson is very heavily focused on working on students source analysis and interpretation skills using antisemitic propaganda that was distributed by the Nazi party in German society in the 1930’s. This lesson includes suggested learning objectives and outcomes and has been designed to be taught over the course of one hour - although it may run over.
The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed.** There a no graphic images of corpses in this resource.**
I really hope you enjoy teaching this lesson to your students as much as I do! If you are able to leave a review once you have taught it, I would be really grateful.

A full lesson to share with your KS3 and KS4 students for Black History Month.
This lesson has been created on Microsoft PowerPoint and is designed to be taught for an hour, however, the tasks can be adapted to speed up or slow down the lesson and some of the tasks included could be taught as stand alone activities. All accompanying information sheets/ worksheets have been provide and additional supportive student materialsfor the starter and plenary have been provided on the PowerPoint as hidden slides to help deliver the lesson quicker should you require.
The lesson includes keywords & definitions, a brief overview of what Black History Month is and why we celebrate it, scaffolded teaching, information sheets to search and categorize key information. Students are then to use the information they have extracted to complete profile pages on significant figures in black history. I have provided single A4 information sheets on 4 key figures from varying periods of history in addition to blank profile pages (black and white to save on colour printing and provide students with more opportunities to get creative!)
There is an AFL check point built into the lesson and to consolidate the learning students can attempt an exam style question which is great for practicing and developing point & evidence writing. The accompanying mark scheme to self-assess has also been included (this is currently styled as a 4 mark AQA history ‘describe’ question). Alternatively, this can easily be tweaked to meet the language and style of your own subject/exam board questions.
I really hope your students enjoy this lesson for Black History Month. If you get the opportunity, please review!

This is the 2016-17 Scheme of work which has been produced for Y8.
The lessons I plan and sell on here correspond perfectly with the SOW. This is a SOW which has been honed, changed and improved over my years of teaching.
The SOW offers a week by week breakdown (using 2016/17 dates) of each lesson (based on a 2 lesson a week average). It is easy and comprehensive for the non specialists to use and works well for us keeping track as we have many split classes in lower school.
Suggested homeworks included and a column to enter the annual data collections can be added which can make planning assessments easier.
Lessons for this SOW can be bought in bulk as well as individually. Please message me any requests if I havent yet uploaded any units and I will endeavour to upload them ASAP.
Celebrate World Space Week this October (UK) with your classes or tutor groups with this resource bundle which is a combination of my 50x question quiz, Crossword puzzle (much of the content is covered in the quiz) and Wordsearch. These resources are themed around the event and all three resources come complete with answers.
This resource for World Space Week quiz created on Microsoft Powerpoint suitable for KS3 and KS4 secondary students.
Quiz
There are 50 multiple choice questions in this quiz covering facts and knowledge about space and the solar system, picture matching with keywords, spacial ‘firsts’ and astro achievements as well as space in music, tv and film! The answers are then to be shared as a class either by going through each question (ensure you are in present mode for the correct answer to colour green) for students to peer or self mark. You could alternatively use the quick answer quiz sheet variation of this quiz if you would prefer to speed things up!
Crossword
Also included is an 18x question crossword complete with answers. Most of the answers to questions within the crossword worksheet are covered in the Quiz so I would recommend the quiz is completed first! The answers to the crossword make up the wordbank students will need to complete the wordsearch activity!
Wordsearch
Finally, there are 3x worksheets included in this resource - all have the same words to find. 2 wordsearches do not have a wordbank as students need to first complete the crossword puzzle and use the answers from the crossword to discover which words to find in the wordsearch. These are differentiated as Medium and Hard in the files. There is an additional wordsearch with a wordbank if you wish for students to complete the wordsearch as a standalone activity.
Please keep an eye out for my weekly tutor time quizzes which are 20 question quizzes created in a similar fashion. Also check out some of my other events based resources (including Black History Month) and please review/leave feedback if you enjoyed this resource and where you have time!
