Simplify & Evaluate Algebraic Expressions- 12 Cards with 3 subtasks

(0)
These are 12 cards on simplifying and evaluating algebraic expressions. The expressions given are all linear. Students have to combine like terms to simplify them (cards 1-6). On cards 7-12 students will need first to apply the distributive property and then to combine like terms. There is an expression on each card with three subtasks (for maximum three partners if you use these cards for group activity). Each subtask is evaluating the simplified expression for a given value of the variable x in it. In subtask A - the value of the variable is an integer, in subtask B the value of the variable is a rational number fraction and in subtask C the value of the variable is a rational number mixed number. Students are provided with empty boxes where to type their answers. This activity can be also used as an independent practice! Answer keys are included. NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. I have converted it to PDF item here.

Combining Like Terms - Guiding Practice/Lesson

(0)
This is an engaging guiding practice on combining like terms & distributive property. It is easy to follow, consisting of 4 parts, 10 worked out examples and 6 tasks for students to do. First part is presenting the term like terms as students fulfill two tasks. Second is presenting the operation combining like terms, students are shown how to perform this operation in four worked out examples and then they are given four problems to solve. Third is simplifying algebraic expressions using combining like terms. Here students have two examples to follow so to solve four problems. And the fourth part is the distributive property and combining like terms. Students learn that when they have an expression with parentheses like a(b+c) they first need to apply the distributive property and then to combine the like terms. It is demonstrated with 3 worked out examples. Finally students are given to simplify 7 algebraic expressions as the last two need to be evaluated for given values of the variables. Answer keys are included.

LINEAR INEQUALITIES in one variable - one, two & multi - step( 3WS, 20 problems)

(0)
This resource contains total of 20 problems. Students will practice solving linear inequalities in one variable. Problems of various difficulty are classified into 3 different types: ⟐ The first worksheet has the students solving 8 one-step inequalities. They are asked to solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph using interval notation. ⟐ The second worksheet is finding the solution sets of each of 6 two-step inequalities. Students are asked to solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph as an inequality involving x. They are also asked to express the graph using interval notation. ⟐ The third worksheet has the students solving 6 multi-step inequalities. They solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph as an inequality involving x. Students also express the graph using interval notation. Students are provided a drawn number line for each inequality. The product can be used in class for cooperative learning , as a partner or a group activity ( groups of 3), independent practice, an assessment or homework assignment. Answer keys are provided.
