GCSE Foundation Revision. This is a topic audit that I am going to get my Year 11s that are sitting the Linear Foundation paper to complete at the start of their revision. All topics have been taken from the AQA Linear spec
A complete Unit of Work on Trigonometry (Sin, Cos and Tan). Covers finding missing lengths and angles of right-angled triangles. No Sine Rule or Cosine Rule included.
Activities include:
Measuring lengths of similar triangles to discuss/discover the ratios, identifying lengths of triangles (hypotenuse, opposite, adjacent), exact trigonometric identities (NEW to the 1-9 GCSE), rounding to 3 significant figures, choosing whether to use sin, cos or tan, choosing whether it's a trig question or Pythagoras and more.
Lots of practice questions, all answers included and plenary type questions for each lesson/series of lessons.
I have been using this with my Year 10 higher set 2 and has taken 6 lessons to complete - not rushing through it and taking the time to explain/cover misconceptions. Would be suitable for NEW 1-9 GCSE Foundation students too.
See my blog post for more details.
I have created a Mathematics version of Pictionary.
Encouraging mathematical language. To create the game cards I just printed off the slides (4 on a page) and then double sided them and laminated. They work great in class - especially for revision with Year 11s.
For more info on the game see my blog post http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2011/12/mathematical-pictionary.html
I hope your classes enjoy.
Here's a set of 50 Mathematics Taboo Cards I have created; easy to change the Key words/taboo words as needed. I print these out, laminate them and then use them in class for revision or as a starter activity to engage students. Good for literacy across the curriculum.
Based on a popular app, and having taken inspiration from the ideas of @reflectivemaths and @srcav, I have created my own Mathematics version to add a bit of literacy across the curriculum. This set includes the words: letter, equation, formula, identity, and expression. I hope these are of use as starters to introduce topics. Differentiated by hiding letters to choose from initially and then revealing them if class struggle. For low ability I would reveal letters at the start.
This is a resource I have created for Pi Day 14/03/13. I have taken inspiration from the popluar app '4 pics 1 word&' and from the likes of @reflectivemaths, @srcav and @El_Timbre on Twitter. I use the resource with mini whiteboards to get students to write the word and the definition of it. Diff by hiding/revealing the letters to choose from. see http://mrcollinsmaths.blogspot.co.uk for more info.
This is a worksheet I created based on the goals scored of 4 teams in the Premier League during the 2011-2012 season. The class work out the mean, median, mode and range goals scored for each from the frequency tables given. Blank columns are given for the students to use, this could easily be differentiated for lower ability classes.
This resource includes 2 videos of me playing the game 'flappy bird&' and a [updated] notebook file for possible lessons you could then teach, based on the videos. The videos could be the start of a series of lessons to collect, represent and compare data. Videos are linked to my YouTube Channel (mrcollinsmaths). Any other suggestions as to how the videos could be used are greatly appreciated. See my blog http://mrcollinsmaths.blogspot.co.uk for more info.
Here is an interactive Buzzer I made using the 'Family Fortunes' wrong answer sound clip. There is also a link to a multiple buzzer I found on the web which I use for team games in class with a student from each team up at the IWB answering questions. I also use this for the &'around the world&'; activity I run in class (see my blog for more info http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com)
Mr. Collins' Maths Table Sheets - Collins City 13 Here is the thirteenth of the 'Collins City&' revision table sheets I use with my Year 11s as GCSE revision. Look out for the other &';Collins City' sheets and the &'Raymond Rovers&'; sheets.

KS4 Vocabulary Here is a revision aid I put together for my Year 11 tutees last year. It was aimed at helping them understand the language of their Mathematics exam; what are they actually asking you to do?!
This is a PowerPoint I created based on the resource uploaded by Manoj Mistry, which can be found here http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/GCSE-Revision-of-basic-skills-powerpoint-6173598/, I have changed the layout of questions to break them up and have added GCSE grades to each question. My Year 11 class have responded well to these slides!
KS3 / GCSE. Metric/ Imperial. Here's a poster I was asked to create for our Maths classrooms. All metric and imperial conversions the students need to know are on here with details as to how to convert between the measures.
This is a ppt I put together for my Y10 class sitting their Edexcel (Linked Pair Pilot) METHODS in Mathematics GCSE examinations. I tried to put on all the key formulae they'd need to remember that is not given on the examination formulae sheet.
Here's a starter task I created using Batman & Superman and Shrek é Donkey. The idea is for the class to use a Venn Diagram to compare the 2 superheroes/characters. I have used this as a starter to finding the HCF and LCM of 2 numbers as well as a starter to teaching Venn Diagrams
Here is a Random Name Generator I use with my classes (the one attached is for my Year 7 class). In order to use just change the names, class, my name etc and then hit F5 to run slideshow, names will automatically rotate until you hit 'S&' on the keypad for stop. Resume the slideshow by hitting &';P' (for play!)
