Here is an interactive Buzzer I made using the 'Family Fortunes' wrong answer sound clip. There is also a link to a multiple buzzer I found on the web which I use for team games in class with a student from each team up at the IWB answering questions. I also use this for the &'around the world&'; activity I run in class (see my blog for more info http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com)

This, is the Pirate Game! It is amazing! I 'play&' this with my classes at the end of each term. Feel free to message me for further details of the game if needed. I have tried to provide as much info in the guide on how the game works. I have adapted this from the one my mentor on my GTP used.

Here are a collection of resources I have used in my lessons on Negative Numbers. There are various activities/tasks for the students to complete on these slides.

Averages from a Frequency Table.Worksheet.KS3, 4.

(5)
This is a worksheet I created based on the goals scored of 4 teams in the Premier League during the 2011-2012 season. The class work out the mean, median, mode and range goals scored for each from the frequency tables given. Blank columns are given for the students to use, this could easily be differentiated for lower ability classes.

Simultaneous Equations Starter/Plenary

(6)
I used this question as a starter to consolidate learning of simultaneous equations with a top set year 10 class. Would work well as a plenary too? The question gets the students to form the simulatenous equations 1st based on a worded question using the characters from Finding Nemo!

The Vedic Square - Worksheet

KS2/ KS3 Worksheet. I love this! I was Tweeted a link to the following site: http://mathormagic.com/vedic_square by @toots2106 (Chris Talbot) [TES name: chris2106] This is the Vedic Square. A 9 by 9 grid that reveals patterns from the sums of the mutiplications of the numbers. Students work through the w/sheet that I have created based on the website's activity and produce all the different Vedic patterns for each digit from 1-9. I can&'t wait to use this... UPDATED to include completed grids

GCSE Foundation maths: Mixed Questions

This is a PowerPoint I created based on the resource uploaded by Manoj Mistry, which can be found here http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/GCSE-Revision-of-basic-skills-powerpoint-6173598/, I have changed the layout of questions to break them up and have added GCSE grades to each question. My Year 11 class have responded well to these slides!

GCSE Foundation Revision. This is a topic audit that I am going to get my Year 11s that are sitting the Linear Foundation paper to complete at the start of their revision. All topics have been taken from the AQA Linear spec
ABCD Plenary (or starter) Fans

ABCD Plenary (or starter) Fans

(0)
I have created a class set of 'ABCD Plenary Fans' to use as a plenary/starter in my lessons. I have uploaded the file I created to create the fans themselves. I printed and cut out enough of the arrows to double side them before laminating and then fastening with paper fasteners. Then, I created the multiple choice Plenary presentation to use with the fans - all you need to do is add in the questions and answers. See my blog post for more info http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/abcd-fans.html
Statistical Diagram Templates

Statistical Diagram Templates

(8)
I have put together a set of templates for the diagrams students need to draw. In my experience they moan and groan about having to draw these and so these templates provide as a solution to this, and also differentiate for those that need help drawing the diagrams. Here I have a Pie Chart, Stem & Leaf, 2-way Stem é Leaf, Mean from Grouped Frequency Table, Frequency Density Table, Box Plot, and a 4 quadrant template. I have printed the required template as a handout so each student has a set of templates to use during the lesson.
Venn Diagram & HCF/LCM Starter

Venn Diagram & HCF/LCM Starter

(6)
Here's a starter task I created using Batman & Superman and Shrek é Donkey. The idea is for the class to use a Venn Diagram to compare the 2 superheroes/characters. I have used this as a starter to finding the HCF and LCM of 2 numbers as well as a starter to teaching Venn Diagrams

KS3 Maths Keywords Revision: 'Pointless'

(15)
This is my Mathematics version of the TV show 'Pointless' for information as to how I intend to use this in class visit my blog posts http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2012/02/pointless-powerpoint-to-use-with-data.html & http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2012/02/pointless-datathe-results-are-in.html I am to use this as revision with my classes or as an end of term/topic activity. NOW UPDATED WITH THE INCORRECT ANSWER &'X&'; BOARD!
Area & Perimeter Differentiated Task Board

Area & Perimeter Differentiated Task Board

(5)
KS3 Maths Game targeted at level 4 and level 5. This is a 'Connect Thoughts&' board. The task is played like the &';Connect 4' game where the class choose any 4 tasks to complete in a row. The rows of questions are levelled and is a great way to differentiate, I have found. For more information on how I have used see my blog post... http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2012/01/connect-thoughts.html These can be adapted for any subject/topic RECENTLY UPDATED WITH ANSWERS
Mathematical Pictionary Game

Mathematical Pictionary Game

(28)
I have created a Mathematics version of Pictionary. Encouraging mathematical language. To create the game cards I just printed off the slides (4 on a page) and then double sided them and laminated. They work great in class - especially for revision with Year 11s. For more info on the game see my blog post http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2011/12/mathematical-pictionary.html I hope your classes enjoy.

'Thubbles' or Thought Bubbles

'Thubbles' or Thought Bubbles

(2)
Here is a set of 4 'Thubbles' that I use every now and again to re-engage my learners. The idea is that the students fill in the thought clouds with an appropriate suggestion of what the characters are thinking! You get some rather interesting ideas! I used to use this in Cover lessons when I was waiting for work.
Stuck-o-meter Display
paulcollinspaulcollins

Stuck-o-meter Display

(3)
Here's a Display idea I got from Jim Smith's 'Lazy Teacher Handbook'. The idea of the 'stuck-o-meter' is that it is stuck up in the classroom and students can post 'post-it' notes on it when they are stuck on a problem/activity/question etc. I then answer the questions as they are stuck on, or get other students to help if they know the answer to problem!
